Chances of admission to graduate school at University of Social Sciences and Humanities

Opportunity to become a graduate student of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

With the mission of training leading experts in the field of social sciences and humanities, making up for the shortage of high-quality human resources in a number of social fields. Fully meeting the requirements for admission and training according to the Law on Higher Education and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expands the admission criteria for postgraduate level. Specifically:

For the first time, students with a GOOD score are still admitted directly to graduate school.

Eight training majors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have just been accredited by prestigious international accreditation organizations (AUN-QA, ABET...) and Vietnamese accreditation organizations recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training, allowing full-time students with a Good or higher degree to be directly admitted to Master's programs.

These are the fields: Literature, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, Vietnam Studies, International Studies, and Archival Studies.

For the first time, scientific research students will have their scientific research bonus points directly added to their cumulative GPA for direct admission, with the following bonus points for scientific research:

+ Won awards at VNU or Ministry of Education and Training level: first prize: 0.2 points, second prize 0.15 points, third prize 0.1 points, consolation prize 0.07 points.

+ Winning school or department level awards: first prize 0.1 point, second prize 0.07 point, third prize 0.05 point.

- For scientific articles published in ISI journals: 0.3 points; articles published in Scopus/other international journals: 0.2 points; articles published in proceedings of international/national scientific conferences and seminars: 0.15 points.

For the first time, candidates do not need to study the right major, they only need to have a bachelor's degree with honors in suitable majors to be considered for direct admission. That means that bachelors with honors in Journalism, Public Relations, International Communications, Mass Communications... are directly admitted to study for a Master's degree in Journalism (research-oriented, application-oriented), or Journalism and Communication Management. Bachelors in Literature, Literature Pedagogy, with honors are also considered for direct admission to a Master's degree in Literature. Bachelors in Tourism and Travel Services Management, Tourism, Hotel Management or Restaurant and Food Service Management with honors are all considered for direct admission to a Master's degree in Tourism.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi awarded master's degrees to students

This year is the first year that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) has applied a new policy in doctoral admissions. Accordingly, the University will consider exempting tuition fees for doctoral students with excellent research capacity. At the same time, it will propose that the National University grant scholarships of up to 100 million VND/person/year (12 months) based on academic and research results during the standard training period.

Interns are considered for scholarships of up to 120 million VND/person/year (12 months).

In addition, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi continues to enroll PhD students under Project 89 of the Ministry of Education and Training, with 12 majors including Journalism, Dialectical Materialism and Historical Materialism, Southeast Asian Studies, Archeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, World History, Vietnamese History, Comparative Linguistics, International Relations, Science and Technology Management, Psychology and Sociology.

According to Project 89, full-time postgraduate students in Vietnam are provided with tuition fees; living expenses; internship and conference participation fees abroad. Full-time postgraduate students abroad are provided with tuition fees; living expenses; health insurance; round-trip airfare; travel expenses (01 round-trip airport pick-up and drop-off at the beginning and end of the course); rewards; partial support for force majeure risks, transfer and receipt fees via bank and other mandatory fees as prescribed by the receiving institution.
