On March 12, 2022, the Hanoi National University Examination Center organized an online consultation session on “The High School Assessment Exam (HSA), and admissions counseling for the fields of Technology, Engineering, and Social Sciences & Humanities” via webinar. The consultation was streamed live on the fanpages: Hanoi National University, Hanoi National University Examination Center, University of Technology - Hanoi National University, and University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Hanoi National University.

Our special guests at the consultation session:Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice Director of Hanoi National University, along with expertsAssoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Ha,Rector of the University of Technology - VNU Hanoi;Professor Hoang Anh Tuan,Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The consultation session attracted the attention of nearly 20,000 candidates and parents, with over 200 questions answered online and through the Q&A section.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered the opening remarks at the online consultation session.

At the consultation session, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), shared: According to the plan, there will be 12 rounds of the National Competency Assessment Exam (HSA) with over 70,000 candidates in many provinces and cities. The organization process and question setting methods will follow the standardized exam procedure, aiming towards gradually aligning the exam and admissions process with international practices. VNU does not organize exam preparation courses related to the HSA. Regarding VNU's admissions activities in 2022, the Vice Director also affirmed: "Besides using the results of the HSA exam for admission to VNU, VNU will still maintain traditional admission methods such as direct admission, international certificates, and the 2022 high school graduation exam." Several new training programs will enroll students in 2022. Successful candidates at VNU will have the opportunity to study two regular training programs simultaneously.

Professor Nguyen Tien Thao also shared his thoughts on the 2022 HSA (Higher Competency Assessment Exam): Currently, the HSA of Vietnam National University, Hanoi is the only exam in Vietnam for university admissions that is conducted on computers; candidates can proactively choose their exam session, time, and location… The center has opened registration for the first 6 exam sessions (session 201-207), with a scale of 38,000 candidates. In the coming time, we will continue to open registration for the remaining 5 sessions with a scale of approximately 35,000 candidates. Therefore, there are still quite a few exam slots available to meet the aspirations of candidates. The center will prioritize candidates who have not yet registered for the HSA exam in the upcoming registration sessions.

Next, the Rectors of the University of Technology and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities also briefly introduced the 2022 Regular Major Admission Plan and the training programs of the two fields of study. The University of Technology plans to allocate 25% of its enrollment quota for HSA (Higher Academic Achievement) admissions in 2022, and will open a new Artificial Intelligence major in 2022. The training programs at the University of Technology are always of particular interest to employers. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities plans to maintain the same admission methods and enrollment quotas as the previous year, and plans to allocate 20% of its quota for HSA admissions in 2022… Majors with high admission scores include Oriental Studies, Korean Studies, and Southeast Asian Studies. Besides traditional majors such as History, Philosophy, and Classical Chinese Studies, new majors such as Psychology, Social Work, and Hotel Management have been attracting significant interest from candidates in recent years.

The advisory board spent most of their time directly answering questions from candidates and parents via webinar. Questions revolved around the majors offered, admission methods, maximum number of applications, exam scores, and more.

In addition, questions asked during the Q&A session were answered directly by admissions officers, helping students better understand the exam they are interested in.

The consultation session lasted nearly two hours. The organizing committee actively answered numerous questions about the HSA exam, but they were unable to fully address all the candidates' needs. Further information regarding the HSA exam, as well as admission methods for the Technology and Engineering, Social Sciences & Humanities fields, application/selection deadlines, and admission results, will be fully and detailedly communicated on the website:http://khaothi.vnu.edu.vn/;https://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/;https://uet.vnu.edu.vn/

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities plans to maintain the same admission methods and enrollment quotas as last year. In 2022, the university plans to allocate 20% of its quotas to HSA (High School for the Gifted) admissions… High-scoring majors include Oriental Studies, Korean Studies, and Southeast Asian Studies. Besides traditional majors like History, Philosophy, and Classical Chinese Studies, new majors such as Psychology, Social Work, and Hotel Management have been attracting significant interest from applicants in recent years.
