Awarding of Bachelor of Journalism Degree Class 2 - Can Tho

On March 18, 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) in collaboration with Can Tho University organized the Closing Ceremony and awarded diplomas to 30 students majoring in Journalism. Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Principal of the University, attended and awarded diplomas to the new graduates.

This is the second diploma class that has been assessed to have the best graduation results of the local Institute of Journalism and Communication Training so far with 5 students graduating with Excellent, 22 students graduating with Good, and 3 students graduating with Fair.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong and Professor, Dr. Ha Thanh Toan awarded certificates of merit to students with academic achievements.

Although the class size is not too large, the learning spirit of the class is very high, the students participate seriously and fully. Most of the students in the class are reporters, editors at newspapers, radio stations and press agencies, press managers so the learning process is very favorable, especially in specialized subjects. The class is also a lively discussion session about the profession. Most of the lecturers participating in the teaching have given positive feedback on the attitude and learning ability of the class.

At the Closing Ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong and Professor, Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, President of Can Tho University, awarded certificates of merit from the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to students with achievements during their studies.

Speaking at the Graduation and Diploma Awarding Ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong praised the learning spirit of the new graduates. The students, who are also reporters and editors at press agencies, overcame difficulties in geographical distance, balancing study and work time... to complete the course. Congratulating the new Journalism graduates, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong emphasized that, when receiving the Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU today, the new graduates have become classmates of thousands of journalists currently working in the country, including those holding important positions in central and local press agencies. All of you are contributing to writing the glorious history of the tradition of the former Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU as well as the Institute of Journalism and Communication today.

Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector of Can Tho University also gave a congratulatory speech to the new Journalism graduates who received their degrees. Prof. Ha Thanh Toan highly appreciated the close and effective cooperation between the two units and hoped that this cooperation would continue and develop in the future.

On behalf of the new graduates receiving their diplomas, new graduate Bui Van Dung shared that he has more than 10 years of experience working as a journalist at many press agencies, but his knowledge and experience were mainly acquired through his work and had never been equipped with formal, academic knowledge at university. Today's bachelor's degree will help journalists like him gain more theoretical knowledge about the profession as well as systematic skills and experience provided by science, helping them to be more confident in their work.
