Three years ago, Nguyen Duong Phuong Anh – a student from the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi – entered the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities with a love for literature and a desire to learn more each day. Three years later, that journey culminated in her graduating as Valedictorian of the Literature major in 2026, with a cumulative GPA of 3.82/4.0 and an Excellent degree.

Within the academically and practically rich cinematic space of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), lecturers and students of the Cinema and Popular Arts Training Program, Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, actively participated and left many lasting impressions.

Completing her bachelor's degree program in just three years and graduating with distinction, Nguyen Duong Phuong Anh – a K68 student majoring in Literature – has made her mark with a diligent academic journey at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi. Behind this achievement lies a strong academic foundation built at the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, a persistent passion for literature, and a continuous commitment to improving her foreign language skills to broaden her learning and research opportunities.

The film "Phi Phong: The Blood Demon of the Sacred Forest" by director Do Quoc Trung recently became the focal point of a profound interdisciplinary dialogue at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). No longer confined to the realm of entertainment, the film opened up frank academic debates among anthropologists, literary researchers, and film practitioners surrounding the question: How can indigenous cultures be brought to the modern screen?

This was the topic of a seminar organized by the Faculty of Literature (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) on May 20, 2026.

From 2026, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, will officially enroll students in its undergraduate program in Film and Television Theory, History, and Criticism. This is an important step towards perfecting the university's in-depth training system and professionalizing its research and training activities in the arts field.

On the afternoon of April 3, 2026, the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU Hanoi) solemnly held the Award Ceremony for the Professor Le Dinh Ky Prize - a prestigious academic award for undergraduate and postgraduate students with outstanding academic achievements and remarkable research in the field of literary theory.

On December 19-20, 2025, a delegation of lecturers from the Faculty of Literature, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, attended the international conference "From Indigenous Memory to Global Perspectives: Art and Minority Communities from a Cross-Cultural Perspective," organized by Van Lang University and Tay Nguyen University in collaboration with the Institute of Literature and O Kia Hanoi Film Studio in Ho Chi Minh City and Dak Lak.

Within the framework of the international academic exchange program in Taiwan (China) at the end of December 2025, the delegation from the Faculty of Literature participated in the international workshop "Traditional Chinese Studies and Southern Perspectives: Dialogue between Taiwan and Vietnam," carrying out a series of activities including meetings and academic exchanges with scholars at prestigious research institutes and publishing houses in Taiwan, thereby expanding and deepening the network of cooperation in training and research in the fields of Literature, Chinese Studies, and humanities.

Today, October 8, 2025, the second International Science Forum between four universities from Vietnam and Taiwan (China), themed "Research and Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities in Contemporary Vietnam and Taiwan (China): Dynamics and Development Trends," was held with the participation of 60 lecturers and scientists from Vietnam and abroad.

"A Brief History of Vietnamese Literature" is a work edited by Professor Tran Dinh Su, first published by the University of Pedagogy Publishing House in 2020, and has been reprinted many times since then.

Recently, the high school graduation exam questions and scores in Literature have attracted significant public attention. With exam questions focusing on broad social relevance and many students achieving good or excellent scores, there has been continued discussion about the teaching and learning of Literature, as well as assessment and grading methods.

Thanks to the valuable training program of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, students majoring in Sino-Vietnamese Studies receive thorough training and are equipped with many skills. Many career opportunities have opened up for Sino-Vietnamese graduates from VNU-USSH.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the country, on the morning of May 14, 2025, the Faculty of Literature – University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized a seminar on Nguyen Duy's poetry: "Searching for Relatives".

On the evening of April 19, 2024, at the auditorium on the 8th floor of building E, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the final round of the 15th Expanded Literature Faculty Drama Night officially took place in an atmosphere of excitement and overflowing emotion. The applause was not only for the outstanding performances but also to honor a long 16-year journey of persistent creativity and dedication.
