(Dan Viet) During the "Touch 18" Gratitude and Coming-of-Age Ceremony for 12th-grade students of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu shared touching insights about the students' journey of growth after more than 1,000 days of study.

In the emotional atmosphere of the "Touch 18" Gratitude and Coming-of-Age Ceremony for 12th-grade students, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu, Principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, affiliated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered profound words of advice to the 4th graduating class as they stand on the threshold of adulthood.

Beginning his speech, Mr. Lieu called it "a very special evening," looking down at the rows of faces that had accompanied the school throughout more than a thousand days of youth. According to him, three years of high school, though not a very long time in a person's life, is enough for those 15-year-old students to become 18-year-olds with many changes in their thoughts, feelings, and perspectives on life.

Looking back on that journey of growth, the first thing that comes to mind is the word "courage."

Principal Nguyen Quang Lieu is proud of his students.

The principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities believes that what is valuable in students lies not only in their achievements, awards, or academic results, but also in their willingness to "dare to try, dare to make mistakes, dare to correct those mistakes, and dare to grow from those experiences."

"That's what makes the youth of the Faculty of Humanities so beautiful: a beauty of self-confidence, of a spirit of learning, of the ability to listen, and of constantly improving themselves," the teacher emphasized.

In his speech, the moment that moved him the most wasn't the medals or academic achievements, but witnessing the students expressing gratitude to their parents and teachers during the appreciation ceremonies of each class.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu, the most beautiful form of maturity is when people learn to appreciate the things closest to them. "At this school, the words 'gratitude' and 'maturity' always go hand in hand," he shared.

Addressing the students who have officially turned 18, Mr. Lieu emphasized another important keyword: "understanding." According to him, turning 18 not only brings more freedom but also greater responsibilities to oneself, family, and society.

"Becoming an adult is not just about having the right to decide your own life, but also about learning to take responsibility for those choices," he said.

Many touching moments were captured.

The principal of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities hopes that students will learn to understand themselves so as not to be too harsh on their mistakes; understand their parents to realize that behind every reminder is love; understand their friends to live more tolerantly; and understand life to maintain their kindness amidst the many complexities of life.

"Only with understanding can people live happily, responsibly, and go far without losing themselves," the teacher advised.

Concluding his speech at the "Touch 18" Gratitude and Graduation Ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu expressed his hope that wherever the students go in the future, whoever they become, they will always remember that they were once students of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities – a school that not only teaches knowledge but also guides students towards a beautiful, humane, and responsible way of life.

"I wish you all the strength to pursue your dreams, the courage to overcome challenges, the understanding to love life, and the kindness to become the pride of your family, teachers, and society," the teacher conveyed to his graduating students.
