Despite the cold weather and drizzle, thousands of high school students from Thanh Hoa city and surrounding districts came to attend and learn about admissions at more than 50 exhibition booths of various universities.
The booth of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities attracted considerable attention from high school students, parents, and teachers from Thanh Hoa province. During discussions with the university's admissions officers, students expressed their interest in several majors, but still had concerns about the curriculum, required aptitudes, suitability for the field, job prospects, and the university's policies to support students during their studies. Many students also inquired about admission methods: Does the university accept high school transcripts? What are the admission policies and priority points awarded to students who have won awards in the gifted student competition? Numerous other specific questions followed. After receiving enthusiastic advice and guidance from the officers on choosing majors that matched their abilities and interests, the students were very excited, confident, and determined to focus on studying hard to be admitted to their desired majors.
Sharing at the counseling session, Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong said that many humanities fields are experiencing shifts in job opportunities and social standing. For example, psychology is attracting more attention due to the increased demand for human resources in society.
"More and more students need psychological support and counseling. Therefore, high schools are now paying attention to opening psychological counseling rooms for students and have a very high demand for personnel," Ms. Huong said.
