Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Vice President Dang Thi Thu Huong (in charge of training) emphasized: The 2021-2022 school year is a special school year, with many challenges from the pandemic situation and changes in the training regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and VNU. In the context of the general difficulties of the whole industry and VNU, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities still maintains a stable operating rhythm and has many remarkable achievements from enrollment to training at all levels, systems and majors. However, facing the requirements of the new situation, increasingly fierce competition in training and research in the fields of social sciences and humanities, especially the training regulations of VNU that have just been issued with many new points, requires the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to have breakthrough solutions in training.
The opinions of the representatives of the training units exchanged at the Conference all agreed with the results, strengths and weaknesses of the training work mentioned in the Report, and at the same time proposed a number of specific solutions to improve the quality of training work in the coming time. In particular, focusing on the following issues:
- Regarding institutions, processes and policies: consistency in guidance documents and student quality monitoring processes need to be stricter.
- Regarding training programs: The curriculum framework structure corresponds to output standards suitable for each industry; it is necessary to increase international integration, have comparisons, generalize, demonstrate thinking, and keep up with international standards.
- There needs to be a solution to increase the number of qualified personnel with academic titles and degrees to meet the strict requirements when opening new majors at the master's and doctoral training levels.
- Review and rearrange training sectors and majors to take advantage of existing resources.
On behalf of the VNU Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (Head of Training Department) highly appreciated the initiative of the School of Humanities in organizing a conference on training to listen to the very valid, practical and dedicated opinions of the faculties/departments. Training is a key activity, closely linked to research and training development, then the staff organization can develop and have international publications. Therefore, the School needs to have specific orientations, strategies and solutions on training in the short and long term, on the basis of closely following the VNU strategy, updating international standards but must be suitable to reality, social needs and ensuring the principle of "quality is the key, the core".
Dinh Duc
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc highly appreciated the achievements in the training work of the School in 2022.
Concluding the Conference, Rector Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan thanked the attention and close guidance of the VNU Leadership. In the coming time, the training work of the University will focus on developing in scale but still maintain core values, focus on developing quality, and affirm the brand. In particular, it is necessary to focus on investing in people, developing staff in both areas: diversifying revenue sources to increase staff income, staff feel secure in their work; investing in and supporting staff to continuously improve their professional qualifications, standardizing the academic titles of Associate Professor and Professor.
