Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong, on behalf of the University's leadership, congratulated the 376 students and 125 doctoral candidates who successfully passed the two rounds of postgraduate entrance exams in 2022 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Among the students and doctoral candidates attending the ceremony today, many were former students of the university. Many, despite living and working in remote areas hundreds of kilometers from Hanoi, have chosen the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as their companion and place to pursue their passion for knowledge and scientific research. The University's leadership and faculty members are committed to providing maximum support to all students and doctoral candidates to ensure they complete their studies successfully, receive their Master's and Doctoral degrees on time, and achieve the highest quality.

On behalf of the students and postgraduate researchers attending the Opening Ceremony of the 2022-2023 academic year, PhD candidate Nguyen Phuc Nguyen (Religious Studies major) expressed his joy and pride in being one of the successful candidates and officially becoming a PhD candidate at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. We understand that in recent years, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have made many groundbreaking innovations in postgraduate admissions, with many open policies creating opportunities for candidates to apply directly to higher education levels, and solutions to support students and postgraduate researchers in publication to ensure output standards. With the University's support, the dedicated guidance, and the encouragement of our teachers, although the coming period of study will be full of difficulties and challenges, we are confident that we will grow not only in knowledge but also in spirit and thinking.

2022 marked the first year that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities implemented postgraduate admissions through a selection and interview process. Accordingly, the university admitted students to all 44 master's degree programs by evaluating applications and interviewing candidates, replacing the traditional examination system where candidates had to write essays on two core subjects, each lasting 180 minutes.
The interview content provides a more direct and accurate assessment of the candidate's suitability and ability to meet the requirements of the training program.
The interview process will provide a more comprehensive assessment of candidates' knowledge, communication skills, critical thinking, and motivation, in addition to the grades shown in their application.
At the same time, through interviews, the Admissions Council also understands the thoughts, aspirations, and study, research, and development plans of each candidate so that they can better support and accompany students in their future studies at the school if the students meet the admission requirements. |
