In addition to basic and fundamental knowledge, in the development process, the history training program is regularly adjusted to increase practical and real-life subjects; as well as supplement modern knowledge to meet the practical needs of the current labor market. PV: According to the current trend, many students want to study two majors in parallel to pursue many fields they love and increase their job opportunities. So can students majoring in History study for a double degree, sir? According to the general policy of Hanoi National University, as well as the high interdisciplinary nature of the training program of basic science majors, students majoring in History can completely study for a dual degree right from the second year. According to statistics from the Faculty, History students often study a second major such as Tourism and Travel Services Management, Journalism, Management Science, International Studies, Psychology at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, or study History Pedagogy at the University of Education, Law at the University of Law, and languages at the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
PV: In recent years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had many policies to support and accompany students during their studies. So, besides the general policies, what other support can students majoring in History receive, sir? History is one of the nine basic sciences of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, so it has special priorities. In addition to the same scholarships as all students of the University such as: Scholarships from the budget, scholarships from BIDV, Vingroup, Dao Minh Quang Fund, Danko, ... students of History have many other supports. In addition, the Faculty of History also has two separate scholarships: Le Van Huu scholarship and Dinh Xuan Lam scholarship (named after two famous historians) for students with excellent academic and research achievements, class cadres, exemplary Youth Union and Association cadres; students from remote areas; students with difficult circumstances but excelling in their studies. PV: Sir, many candidates and parents used to think that studying History can only lead to becoming a history teacher or a history researcher. What do you think about this opinion? Before 2000, History graduates often worked in public agencies: research institutes, central and local propaganda agencies, cultural management agencies; or as teachers, lecturers of history and culture in high schools, colleges, and universities; worked as translators, document managers at archives, museums, exhibition houses, etc. But in recent years, the output of History graduates has been very diverse according to the modern labor market. According to statistics, besides traditional jobs, a large number of History students immediately after graduation have worked at private enterprises in tourism, travel, event organization or trading in cultural products and services; publishing, press and media agencies. In particular, recently, many History students after graduation have done very well in private companies as cultural consultants, creating cultural products, advising on product development policies, and human resource management.
Leaders of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of History met and signed a cooperation agreement with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh on coordinating the organization of scientific research activities, seminars, publications and internships for students.
