University of Social Sciences and Humanities: 80 years of creating knowledge, leading the future

Strategic vision in the era of digital transformation
The world is entering a period of strong transformation under the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the wave of artificial intelligence. Global science and higher education are changing every day, requiring high adaptability, innovation capacity and global thinking. In that flow, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi is not standing outside, but is making efforts to transform itself to maintain its identity, integrate into the trend of technology application and deep international integration.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities clearly defines its pioneering mission: to be both a center for training, scientific research, and excellent policy consulting, and a smart university, building the nation, firmly establishing a basic scientific foundation to develop applied science to serve the Fatherland. The school aims to become one of the top 100 universities in the continent and the top 450 universities in the world by 2035. The educational philosophy of "Cultural - Modern - Liberal" continues to be considered the guiding principle for all training and research activities.
The school focuses on restructuring the organization in the direction of streamlining - compactness - strength, applying smart university management, completing comprehensive digital transformation before 2026. Along with that is the policy of developing a team of high-quality lecturers, scientists and managers. The school aims that by 2030, 90% of lecturers will have a doctorate degree, 27% will have the title of professor or associate professor; by 2035, these rates will be 95% and 35% respectively. Along with training domestic staff, the school proactively attracts scientific talents, especially in specific fields such as: Han Nom, Archaeology, Ethnology, Cultural Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies... These are fields that play a role in preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural values ​​in the new era.
Building human resources for the integration era
Currently, the training structure of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is being re-planned towards multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-disciplinary orientation, aiming to meet the human resource needs of the digital economy. By 2030, the University is expected to have 35 bachelor's programs, 32 master's programs and 28 doctoral programs, with a scale of about 18,000 students, of which over 20% are postgraduate and international students.
The proportion of training programs in English or international languages ​​reaches 30%, aiming for 35% by 2035. Along with that, the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities will become a high-quality school before 2030 and reach international standards by 2035. This is a complete development step in the comprehensive training ecosystem from high school to postgraduate.
In addition to training, scientific research and policy consulting are considered as the main tasks. The school continues to implement key, long-term scientific programs, aiming at projects of high academic and practical value, while contributing top-notch policy consulting to the Party and State in the fields of cultural and human development and digital transformation.
In particular, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities proposed to build the “Center for Vietnamese Cultural Documentation Abroad” – a special project to collect, digitize, store and exploit Vietnamese cultural documents worldwide, applying big data technology in research, translation and publishing. This project not only contributes to affirming the academic position of the University but also makes this place become the “holy land of cultural studies” of Vietnam in the next decade.
From vision, philosophy to action, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is gradually realizing its aspiration to become a leading regional knowledge center, a place to nurture liberal thinking, national spirit and global integration capacity - contributing sustainably to the cause of reviving Vietnamese higher education.
