The program took place from November 3-7, 2025 at Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ninh Binh) with the participation of 15 students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Faculty of Anthropology and Religious Studies, Faculty of History, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Institute of Journalism and Communication Training) and 15 selected students from South Korea.
The program aims to spread the benefits and effects of meditation in learning and in life, helping people easily apply meditation to reduce stress and balance their lives. In addition, meditation offers many benefits for physical and mental health, improves emotional well-being, and enhances concentration and memory.
Venerable Lim Donguk explains meditation practices to USSH students.
During the exchange, students from both countries received teachings from Venerable Lim Donguk on meditation practices, explaining the causes of suffering and how to alleviate afflictions. Through analyzing the problems people face, Venerable Lim Donguk shared about the Five Aggregates in Buddhism and the effect of understanding them in helping us recognize the nature of suffering and overcome it, to achieve clarity, peace, and happiness. By contemplating the five elements—form, feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness—people can end suffering.
In addition, students also participate in many extracurricular activities, experiential learning, and cultural exchange between the two countries, such as tea meditation, making traditional dishes, learning calligraphy, and participating in workshops on Vietnamese and Korean cultural issues.
This is a special opportunity for students majoring in Religious Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and students from universities in South Korea to exchange ideas and learn from each other, enhancing their international integration, improving their social communication skills, and fostering independence.
