Attending the launching ceremony were representatives of the School Board of Directors, former teachers, the book's authors and a large number of staff, lecturers and students of the School.
Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Chairman of the Science and Training Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam (Chairman of the School's Alumni Association) chaired the book launch ceremony.
Associate Professor Dr. Lam Ba Nam, Chairman of the Association of Former Teachers, Head of the Editorial Board shared: “The book of 38 articles by 35 authors is the reminiscences of each member in different positions about the school, teachers, colleagues and students who have contributed to the brand of the school. Particularly valuable are the articles by teachers of the first course of Hanoi National University such as Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh. We consider these as the first pieces of memories. Hopefully, the next books will have the participation of many current staff as well as generations of students. Thereby, the endless source of inspiration of the tradition of Literature - the quintessence of General Science - the position of Humanities will continue, towards successes in the new era of development of the country"
Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh emotionally shared: "Through the book, through the true and touching stories, we can imagine the stages of development of the School, including the extremely difficult, deprived and arduous days during the war when teachers and students of the school evacuated to Thai Nguyen. But with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, loving life, loving school, and being passionate about the profession of the teachers and scientists of Hanoi General University, we still see in each page of writing stories full of optimism, romance, and humanity. And it is that spirit and courage that has made the name and brand of Hanoi General University. Reading the lines of poetry: "Oh dear teachers of the past, Teachers from where! “Still Remember…” made me extremely emotional, evoking the deep nostalgia for the respected teachers of many generations of students: Mr. Tran Van Giau, Mr. Dao Duy Anh, Mr. Pham Huy Thong, Mr. Cao Xuan Huy, Mr. Le, Mr. Lam, Mr. Tan, Mr. Vuong. The school has developed as it is today thanks to the foundation built by generations, especially the generation of enlightened teachers. And the thread connecting all generations of Hanoi University of Science and Humanities is intelligence, courage, devotion, dedication and humanistic spirit. I believe that this thread will continue to be extended on the next development path of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.”
Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thanh Hung was particularly impressed by the pages written about lecturers and students who were willing to put down their pens and put aside their scientific dreams and ambitions to go to the battlefield, fight and sacrifice for national independence, leaving behind "Vietnam's posture carved into the century", typically Poet, Soldier, Martyr Le Anh Xuan. Therefore, the book is not only a memory but also a valuable document to remind us of the development journey of not only a school but also of Vietnamese education in many historical contexts.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thanh Hung
NNC Tran Hinh shared: “The articles have a diverse style: simple, concise, scientific but also many romantic and humorous articles, and all are very valuable articles. Readers can easily recognize the “Synthetic style” through the passionate and affectionate pages about the relationship between teachers and students, colleagues, ambitions and aspirations in academic fields, the arduous but heroic years to create sedimentary layers, build the foundation, and build the foundation to make the reputation of the School today. The book is an extremely meaningful work on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the University of Literature and the 30th founding of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities”.
NNC Tran Hinh
NNC Bui Viet Thang Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu expressed: “This is a very valuable book about the process of building and developing the School over more than 3/4 of a century. Imbued in the pages are love, pride, attachment to the school, the relationship between teachers and students, friends - that is the thread connecting all generations in the past, present and forever. A school that has gone through two fierce wars, then entered the renovation process with the country, faced many challenges but has always maintained its position as a leading center for training and research in Social Sciences and Humanities, the cradle of training outstanding intellectuals, high-quality human resources for the country.
The journey of 80 years of the Faculty of Letters, nearly 70 General Universities and especially 30 years of maturity under the name of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will have many things to say, to write, to be proud of. Therefore, I really hope that after the first very successful volume, the teachers will devote their hearts to continue publishing more books as precious gifts to pass on to the next generation, especially about the foundation we have built in the past 30 years of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The anniversary event will pass and close, but the books will remain forever."
Professor, Dr. Phung Huu Phu
