The University of Social Sciences and Humanities continues to affirm its leading position within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Accordingly, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities ranked second with a score of 94.1 (after the University of Natural Sciences), followed by the following universities: University of Economics, University of Education, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Technology, University of Foreign Languages, and Vietnam-Japan University. The scoring and ranking criteria were based on comprehensive results across all aspects of the universities' activities in the 2021-2022 academic year: personnel management, training activities, scientific research, quality assurance, domestic and international cooperation, community service, student care and support, administrative work, etc. Therefore, this result recognizes and affirms the key role and position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in particular and the higher education system in Vietnam in general.
The 2021-2022 academic year was a year of many difficulties and challenges due to the extremely complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic; the need for innovation became increasingly urgent to keep pace with the rapid changes in the digital age and changes in Vietnam's education policy. However, with the close attention of the VNU leadership, the keen, creative, and groundbreaking thinking of the leadership team, and the unanimous determination of the staff, lecturers, students, and trainees, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities achieved many successes.
As Professor Hoang Anh Tuan shared in his opening speech for the 2022-2023 academic year:The school has accomplished many key tasks: completing the second cycle of the school's quality assessment program, successfully consolidating the organizational structure and harmonizing personnel management; fundamentally completing the renovation of facilities; exceeding enrollment targets excellently in all three undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs… And, above all: nearly 10,000 staff and students of the school have overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, albeit with difficulty, but safely during two challenging academic years for the entire education sector: teachers have been proactive, flexible, and dedicated in online and in-person teaching activities; school staff have continued to increase their scientific research achievements, while actively participating in free psychological counseling and social support activities for the community; students have persevered through difficulties to ensure their academic progress, graduating on time and securing stable employment as soon as possible; Generations of alumni from the University of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with partners and benefactors, have joined hands to provide both material and spiritual support, ensuring that students can study with peace of mind throughout the pandemic. The University has been commended by the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding achievements in online teaching and learning, ensuring the safety of staff and students… These remarkable efforts and positive results are proof that the University of Humanities has been, is, and will continue to strongly transform itself, affirming its position as a leading higher education institution in the country: modern and integrated on an academic and humanistic foundation!"
