The Korea Foundation prioritizes strengthening the team of experts in Korean Studies training at VNU-USSH.

This information was confirmed by a representative of the Korea Foundation, South Korea, during a meeting with the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) on the afternoon of August 12, 2024.
During the meeting, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his gratitude for the cooperative relationship between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Korea Foundation over the years, especially in the development of Korean Studies training. With the support of the Korea Foundation, the Korean Studies program has consistently received investment and development. The University hopes to continue receiving the Foundation's support in promoting Korean Studies as well as other social sciences and humanities disciplines.
Mr. Woo Hyoung Min, Director of the Korea Foundation, Hanoi Office, expressed his honor at receiving a warm welcome from the Board of Directors and representatives of the faculties and departments of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and emphasized that VNU-USSH is the first university he has visited since beginning his new term in Vietnam.

Affirming the achievements and leading position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities, and also being one of the two prestigious institutions for Korean language and culture training in Vietnam, Mr. Woo Hyoung Min affirmed that the Korea Foundation will strive to accompany the university in training and research activities. In the coming time, the Korea Foundation will prioritize strengthening the team of Korean studies experts in Korean language and culture training at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, continue to cooperate in improving the facilities of lecture halls and Korean studies rooms of the University, support the publication of scientific publications and organize events on Korean culture at VNU-USSH.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the Korea Foundation will sign their second cooperation agreement, affirming the deep and effective relationship between the two organizations over the years.
With over 30 years of cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea, the South Korean government and organizations have provided significant support and assistance in Vietnam's education sector. With the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the South Korean government and organizations, especially the KF-Samsung Scholarship Fund, have maintained a comprehensive cooperative relationship across all areas, including support for building facilities to support teaching and learning for VNU-USSH faculty and students, and collaboratively organizing workshops that have yielded many positive results for students.
Notably, KF-Samsung has awarded valuable scholarships to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, creating opportunities for them to develop their personal abilities and excel in their studies. In 2023, KF-Samsung awarded 15 scholarships to 6 students from the QH-2020-X cohort majoring in Korean Studies (full-time program), 4 students from the QH-2021-X cohort majoring in Korean Studies (full-time program), and 5 students from the QH-2022-X cohort majoring in Korean Studies (full-time program), each scholarship worth 250 USD.
The Korea Foundation (KF; Korean: 한국국제교류재단; Hanja: 韓國國際交流財團) is a non-profit public diplomacy organization established in 1991 to promote a deeper understanding of Korea and strengthen friendship within the international community. The Foundation undertakes numerous exchange projects between Korea and foreign countries to foster mutual understanding.
The Foundation's areas of cooperation and funding include: supporting Korean language teaching, implementing exchange programs for leaders and youth, organizing and supporting various performances and exhibitions showcasing Korean culture and art, supporting the publication of books related to Korea in foreign languages, and collecting materials related to Korea and multimedia content from universities, libraries, and research institutes worldwide.
