From the initial foundations until now, many activities have been implemented and achieved certain results. The cooperation between the two units also affirms the position of social sciences and humanities in all areas of society.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan affirmed that building and consolidating the position of social sciences and humanities is the common mission of the two schools.

Opening the conference, Dr. Tran Anh Tien - Head of the Department of External Relations and Science Management, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM presented a summary report on cooperation between the two universities from August 2022 to June 2024 in the fields of training, scientific research, university administration, human resource development and other activities. In the period of 2022-2024, the two units have coordinated and successfully implemented many activities, however, there are still some problems in the actual implementation of training, university administration and human resource development that need to be promoted and monitored more closely.

Dr. Tran Anh Tien opened the conference with a summary report of the 2022-2024 period and presented some suggestions for the 2024-2026 period.

Within the framework of the conference, representatives of the two schools presented papers revolving around the main coordination contents: (1) Papers:“Proposing policies on student exchange and credit recognition between the two schools”presented by Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Head of Training Department, and MSc. Pham Van Hue, Deputy Head of Training Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. (2) Presentation: “Advantages and difficulties in implementing common courses between the two schools"presented by Dr. Cao Thi Chau Thuy - Head of Training Management Department and Assoc. And (3) papers "Some focuses of scientific research cooperation between the two schools: orientation and solutions"Presented by Dr. Trinh Van Dinh - Head of Scientific Research Management Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi.

There is a lot of room but implementation still has many problems.

Representatives of the two schools, through their presentations, also directly raised issues and current situations in the implementation of practical activities. Although there is a lot of room for cooperation in training, it has not yet met expectations. The administrative processes and procedures are not yet specific, and the receiving point is not clear; the difference in output standards of the training programs of the two schools also creates difficulties in credit recognition between the two sides; ensuring that exchange students face many difficulties in terms of accommodation, transportation, security, and regional cultural differences; the exchange time needs to be considered to suit the common training program of both schools.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the University Council, Head of Training Department of VNU-USSH) shared some difficulties and challenges in student exchange between the two schools.

Through a quick survey by the training department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, it shows that students of all majors have the need and desire to go to Ho Chi Minh City to participate in exchange programs. However, in order to be effective, the coordination mechanism needs to be clearly agreed upon, and specialized units need to work together more proactively and closely, thereby guiding and supporting faculties to effectively implement this activity for students.

Coordination requires great determination

That was also the opinion emphasized by many delegates at the conference. When we have determination, we will be proactive in finding solutions to solve the remaining problems.

Dr. Cao Thi Chau Thuy, Head of Training Management Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, committed that in the next phase, the unit will conduct a survey on the need for lecturer and student exchange at faculties, research and compare the output standards of training programs to provide a basis for recognizing credits for subjects and majors; guide faculties in implementation; coordinate with the Training Department of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-Hanoi to unify and issue regulations and implementation procedures. MSc. Pham Van Hue - Deputy Head of Training Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-Hanoi - also said that our determination in the previous phase was there but not enough to overcome obstacles, he also proposed to make the content of cooperation and student exchange at the two schools a keyword for recruitment communication in the next phase.

Associate Professor, Dr. Luu Van Quyet, Head of the History Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, who is also the pioneer in implementing the student and lecturer exchange program between the two schools, shared that there are many difficulties, but they are not impossible to solve. The needs of the faculties are real, and they are also very determined in implementing them. What the faculties need is a legal basis and specific guidance from professional units.

Dr. Cao Thi Chau Thuy pledged to proactively and vigorously implement the next phase of training cooperation between the two schools.

The new stage is inheritance and development.

After summarizing and evaluating the activities of the 2022-2024 period, the two units signed a memorandum of understanding for the next 2024-2026 period. On the basis of inheriting the foundation of the previous period's activities, overcoming limitations, and drawing experience from practical implementation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the North and South agreed to continue cooperation in the following areas: training, scientific research, university administration, human resource development, cultural activities, library information, unions, etc.

The 2024-2026 period will be a continuation and further development on the basis of the achievements that have been made.

In his closing speech at the conference, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-Hanoi, reaffirmed that the cooperation between the two schools is a correct direction, supported by leaders at all levels. It is an advantage but also a challenge, especially in the context of the current education and training picture facing great pressure, especially in the field of social sciences and humanities. He pledged that the leaders of the two schools will be more determined in resolving existing obstacles, closely directing to achieve the goals set for the strategic plan between the two schools in the next phase. And the important thing is that we must be "unanimous - agreeable - comradely - unanimous" so that everything can reach the final destination.

Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan believes that in the future, "One USSH" will be stronger and clearer.

Representatives of the two units took a souvenir photo to show the strong bond between the two units.
