Providing VNU-USSH students with the opportunity to study English for free with international volunteers

This is the content of the discussion and cooperation agreement between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) and the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) on September 21, 2023.
At the reception of CSDS leaders, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed his appreciation for the goodwill of cooperation of the Center for Sustainable Development Studies in the past time. Previously, since November 2017, the Center for Sustainable Development Studies has had volunteer activities to support VNU-USSH students, notably organizing free international English classes with teachers who are collaborators from many countries under the International Volunteer Program coordinated by CSDS.
The teaching content is based on the curriculum compiled by CSDS, including topics related to common communication situations. In addition to the opportunity to practice English communication with international volunteers, students also have the opportunity to practice and accumulate many other useful soft skills through teaching activities in many creative and attractive forms.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed his desire to expand cooperation with CSDS in activities for students.
After a period of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the cooperation program will continue to be resumed to build and improve English proficiency for VNU-USSH students, expanding opportunities for them to participate in social activities and volunteer activities.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed that the school will coordinate and make the most of resources to implement activities carried out by CSDS at VNU-USSH to bring the best values ​​to students. The two sides agreed to continue implementing cooperative activities, including opening free English classes for students and supporting the regularization of volunteer activities of the Youth Union - Association. The new point in organizing the free English teaching program is to prioritize the implementation of the self-created classroom model, students organize their own classes to suit their needs and study time.
VNU-USSH warmly welcomes international collaborators who wish to work with the school for a long time.

Mr. Don Tuan Phuong - Director and founder of CSDS Vietnam shared the organization's experiences in selecting volunteers and organizing classes of appropriate scale at VNU-USSH. With the Youth Union and Student Association as the focal points for implementation, the free English learning program and support to promote volunteer movements are expected to attract the participation of a large number of students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
 
 

Center for Sustainable Development Studies(CSDS) is a Vietnamese non-profit organization legally registered since 2009. CSDS's goal is to contribute to the achievement of the global goals for sustainable development through youth citizenship activities. In particular, CSDS helps to increase the influence of young people on the development agenda through building youth capacity and expanding opportunities for youth to participate in social activities and volunteering activities.
