Overview of the Conference
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the behavior of students and parents. The trend of using technology, specifically online platforms, in the educational environment has increased significantly. The educational technology (edtech) industry has experienced explosive growth, and the demand for online learning solutions has also skyrocketed. According to a Comscore survey, from January to February 2020, monthly website views for educational websites more than doubled (103%), and nearly tripled (292%) for websites focused on education for children and parents.

Along with changes in teaching and learning habits, expectations of parents and students regarding modernization and technological advancements in the education sector are also increasing. The HolonIQ 2020 survey, conducted in March 2020, showed that the widespread use of new technologies was one of the most common development strategies for educational businesses after the COVID-19 pandemic (excluding preschools). This was considered more important than some previously core factors, such as investment in new products, markets, or operating methods.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training, Ministry of Education and Training, delivered a speech at the workshop.
In Vietnam, the trend of applying information technology or digitalization in education is developing strongly. Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy (Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training, Ministry of Education and Training) stated: “It cannot be denied that the education and training sector has been and is being greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the impacts of the pandemic are also the driving force to promote the digital transformation process of the entire sector.” She also cited: in a very short time, we have witnessed educational institutions at all levels, from universities to primary schools, proactively and flexibly applying digital technology. This could be replacing traditional classrooms with livestreaming tools; it could be assigning homework on online educational platforms. Most schools maintained full or partial online teaching and learning during the social distancing period. Therefore, it can be affirmed that: "The initial application of technology has yielded positive results, enabling education officials to exchange information, work, and cooperate smoothly, while minimizing disruptions to students' learning. In my opinion, these are positive steps that we need to further promote in the future."

Professor Pham Quang Minh - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, delivered a speech at the conference.
Affirming the crucial role of IT in education, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) shared: “In the context of the ongoing pandemic, technology is the key to helping educational institutions overcome difficulties and achieve long-term development.” The University of Social Sciences and Humanities was one of the first to recognize the importance of technology and has implemented a series of research and consulting activities: developing the Internet and Society Research Program; organizing numerous workshops on hot issues such as hate speech; advising the Ministry of Information and Communications on building a Code of Conduct on social media… The university has also proactively changed its teaching and learning methods, combining online and blended learning. In particular, with the support of Facebook, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has included the “Digital Literacy” course in its Bachelor of Information Management program. Last December, a delegation from the University was invited to Facebook's headquarters in Singapore to attend a training course on social media skills. This marked the beginning of a deeper collaborative project between the two sides aimed at disseminating knowledge about "digital competence" in Vietnamese universities in 2020.

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Chi - Public Policy Manager for Vietnam Market, Facebook
Digitalizing education from a communication perspective: Mr. Khoa Anh Viet (Director of the Information Technology, Communication and Learning Resources Center, University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) shared the experience of the University of Foreign Languages in implementing communication work oriented towards adapting to the digital trend. Accordingly, in terms of content, the University focuses on producing many products with content and themes that attract young people, who are the fastest to adopt digital trends. In terms of form, the products are made in a way that is easy to read, easy to understand, easy to access, fun, or "trendy" to attract viewers, such as videos with many images and sounds or infographics... Currently, the University of Foreign Languages has many online communication channels such as: website, fanpage, YouTube, staff Facebook group, email, staff Zalo/Viber channels, etc.

MSc. Khoa Anh Viet (center) and Mr. Pham Giang Linh (right) are two guests at the workshop sharing experiences on adapting to digitalization trends in education from the perspective of universities and educational enterprises.
In recent years, especially this year with the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, the University of Foreign Languages (ULIS) has organized many online admissions counseling activities from junior high school to university level through livestreaming from the studio or via Zoom. “Although there is still room for improvement, the events have received very good interaction, so I think this format has been very helpful for admissions communication. Overall, I must affirm that if we only relied on traditional direct communication, ULIS's brand image would not be as strong as it is today. Therefore, in the current trend of digitalization, universities should focus on online communication.”

Ms. Nguyen Phuong Chi presented flowers to Professor Pham Quang Minh, the Rector, and Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy.
Mr. Pham Giang Linh - General Director of HOCMAI Education System, a business providing online education services for high school students with nearly 4 million participating members - shared his experience in leveraging the advantages of online platforms in introducing educational products: Currently, HOCMAI has a Fanpage system for students and parents, with 1 to 1.2 million followers, along with many other Fanpages for other purposes. HOCMAI has utilized these channels to introduce free courses to students during the time they are not attending school, and also connected with universities to help introduce information about the schools to students.

The guests took a commemorative photo at the workshop.
Mr. Nguyen Nhat Minh, Business Strategy Manager at Facebook, advises educational institutions in Vietnam to view digital transformation as a long-term rather than a short-term strategy. Mr. Minh believes that investing in high-quality, well-structured online course content that delivers core values to learners is crucial. He argues that the foundation should be built on content, while images, audio, and effects are merely methods of delivery. The key is to demonstrate the value of the course, showing how it helps customers gain knowledge and become better individuals.

The technical team worked at the conference to support over 800 individuals, including staff from universities and educational institutions nationwide, who participated in the conference via Zoom meetings software.
Sharing about Facebook's activities to support the digitalization of education in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Huy, Director of Small and Medium Enterprise Management, Vietnam Market at Facebook, committed: “With its diverse ecosystem of applications, Facebook is honored to contribute to supporting education and have the opportunity to bring technological solutions to help schools adapt to the changes in the education sector during and after COVID. We will continue to cooperate closely with schools to jointly build long-term multi-channel strategies for the future of education in Vietnam.”
