Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, received Mr. Ruici Tio, Program Manager for Safety and Integrity Policy in the Asia Pacific region.
Attending the meeting were representatives from the Development Cooperation Department, and leaders and faculty members of the Faculty of Information and Library Science (the unit directly implementing the project to enhance digital skills for students in recent years).
The discussions focused on AI-generated applications and future collaboration options between the two parties, including:
- Focus on issues related to generative AI for faculty, lecturers, and students, particularly from the perspective of social sciences and humanities, specifically aspects of ethics, behavior, and user responsibility, etc.
- Continue to innovate the Introduction to Information Literacy module, adding content on AI application skills for generation, thereby designing e-courses and lectures that allow for a wider range of learners.
- Conduct surveys and research to review and upgrade the issued Digital Competency Framework for students, with particular emphasis on content related to the use and application of AI in generating digital competencies and the impact of AI on other components of digital competencies.
- Support the research team in developing digital competency assessment tools for students, including digital competency frameworks, digital competency scales, self-assessment tests, and digital competency assessments.
- Propose establishing a Center for Digital Competence at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, with the function of researching, training, and assessing digital competence.
- Promote community activities and extracurricular activities for students related to digital skills and AI application skills, notably the activities of the Digital Humanities Club.
- Aiming to organize an international conference on digital capabilities and AI generation in 2025.
The two sides exchanged many cooperation solutions, emphasizing the continued innovation of the Introduction to Information Literacy module, adding content on AI-generated application skills, thereby designing e-courses and lectures that allow for a wider range of learners.
Mr. Ruici Tio highly appreciated the successful implementation of the cooperation project between Meta and VNU-USSH and expressed confidence in the continued collaboration between the two parties. Meta is committed to accompanying VNU-USSH in future projects.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed his determination to enhance Vietnam's leading position in digital skills research for students, as well as the application of AI in social sciences and humanities, by focusing resources on the proposed collaborations with Meta. He also thanked Meta for trusting and choosing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a strategic partner in higher education in Vietnam and the region.
