Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, received Mr. Ruici Tio, Manager of the Asia Pacific Safety and Integrity Policy Program
Attending the meeting were representatives of the Development Cooperation Department, leaders and lecturers of the Faculty of Information and Library (the unit directly implementing the project of Improving Digital Capacity for Students in recent years).
The discussion focused on the application of AI and cooperation plans between the two sides in the coming time, including:
- Focus on issues related to Generative AI for staff, lecturers and students, especially from the perspective of social sciences and humanities, specifically aspects of ethics, user behavior and responsibility, etc.
- Continue to innovate the Introduction to Information Competency course, adding content on AI application capacity to create, from there design courses and electronic lectures, allowing to expand the target audience.
- Conduct surveys and research to review and upgrade the issued Digital Competency Framework for students, with special focus on the content related to the use and application of generative AI in digital competency and the impact of AI on other components of digital competency.
- Support the research team in developing digital competency assessment tools for students, including digital competency frameworks, digital competency scales, and self-assessment tests as well as digital competency tests.
- Proposing to establish a Digital Competency Center at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU with the functions of research, training, and assessment of digital competencies.
- Promote community activities and extracurricular activities of students related to digital capacity and AI application capacity, typically the activities of the Digital Version Humanities Club.
- Aiming to organize an international conference on digital capabilities and generative AI by 2025
The two sides discussed many cooperation solutions, emphasizing the continued innovation of the introductory course on information competency, adding content on the ability to apply generative AI, thereby designing courses and electronic lectures, allowing for the expansion of the target audience.
Mr. Ruici Tio highly appreciated the effective implementation of the cooperation project between Meta and VNU-USSH and expressed his confidence in the future cooperation between the two sides. Meta is committed to accompanying VNU-USSH in upcoming projects.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed his determination to promote the leading position in digital competency research for students in Vietnam, as well as the application of generative AI in social sciences and humanities by focusing resources on Meta's proposed cooperation contents. At the same time, he thanked Meta Group for trusting and choosing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a strategic partner in the field of higher education in Vietnam and the region.
