Overview of the working session
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the University Council, Head of Training Department), Dr. Pham Hoang Hung (Head of Training and Development Department), along with lecturers and students of the Department of Thai Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies.
On behalf of the delegation, Prof. Dr. Phrakrusutheejariyawat Pagdenog expressed his pleasure to visit the school in the early days of 2024 and thanked the school for its warm welcome. Mahamakut Buddhist University is one of the two large Buddhist schools with a long tradition in Thailand, with many branches including the Isan branch. The school offers undergraduate, master and doctoral training in social sciences: religion, political science, psychology, sociology. Currently, the school has many international students such as students from Laos, Cambodia, China, but no Vietnamese students.
Therefore, in the coming time, we expect that there will be many Vietnamese students and trainees studying at the school, especially majoring in Thai language. At the same time, during this working trip, Mahamakut Buddhist University, Isan Branch hopes to establish a close cooperative relationship with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in student exchange activities, Thai and Vietnamese language teachers, and scholarship granting. Representatives of Mahamakut Buddhist University also shared information that each year the school will grant scholarships to 2 Vietnamese university graduates to study in Thailand for graduate studies (scholarships include free accommodation and tuition).

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam, welcomed the Board of Directors, lecturers and students of Mahamakut Isan Buddhist University as the first international guests to visit in the New Year of the Dragon, friends who brought joy and luck in a year full of tasks. Briefly introducing the University, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam emphasized: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has a long-standing tradition in Vietnam, with President Ho Chi Minh personally signing the decree to establish the University of Literature (the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) in 1945, right after the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was founded. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the core members of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Currently, VNU is the leading university in Vietnam, ranked highly in the world, with some majors in the top 400, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is proud to be one of the important members contributing to that achievement. Currently, the school has over ten thousand students studying in 27 undergraduate programs, 36 master programs and 30 PhD programs. There are a number of similar programs between the two schools, so the opportunities for cooperation are very open, not just limited to Thai language training.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam expressed the joy of the School when welcoming international delegations to visit at the beginning of the new year.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam completely agrees with the proposals of the Board of Directors of Mahamakut Buddhist University, expanding international cooperation is also the strategic direction of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the current context of integration. The information shared by the University today is very useful, especially the very good news of scholarships for students studying Thai language and graduate studies.
All training programs include practical internships abroad, so cooperation with Mahamakut Buddhist University will provide more prestigious addresses for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to study, exchange, practice, and practice.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is the only institution in Vietnam that offers Religious Studies at all three levels: Bachelor, Master and Doctor. The two sides can coordinate to organize scientific seminars on topics of mutual interest. In the 2024 plan, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will organize a seminar on religion and beliefs, and we hope that scientists and lecturers from your school will participate. In addition, the two sides can expand cooperation in other fields: psychology, political science, sociology, social work, etc.
Professor Phramaha Suphachai Bootraked expressed his joy and emotion when returning to the old house where he taught nearly 20 years ago, but with the role of connecting the cooperation between the two schools.
During the meeting, many lecturers and students of Mahamakut Isan Buddhist University were interested in the training programs of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and especially the students were interested in extracurricular clubs as well as community service activities.
Prof. Dr. Phramaha Suphachai Bootraked is very interested in the volunteer activities of the School's students.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam shared: Currently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has nearly 30 clubs: volunteer activities, arts, sports, academics, etc., attracting thousands of students to participate. Typically: Blood donation club, volunteer student club, MC club, media club, football club, etc. are very active. Therefore, a large number of students of the University are not only equipped with professional knowledge, but also develop skills and interests through extracurricular activities and directly participate in volunteer activities to help children, people in difficult areas, vulnerable groups, and those with special injuries during the summer vacation.
In addition, many of our majors enable students to develop their professional knowledge by directly participating in community support activities: social work students help vulnerable and vulnerable groups; psychology students participate in organizations that support therapy for autistic children, etc.
Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam sincerely thanked Mahamakut Isan Buddhist University for visiting the school and providing a lot of useful information for the lecturers and students of the school. In order to make the cooperation between the two units effective, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam proposed that after today's meeting, the two sides will sign a cooperation document (MOU) on a number of specific contents: exchanging lecturers and students; granting scholarships to students and trainees; opening short-term training courses and recognizing each other's credits; coordinating the organization of international scientific conferences; supporting lecturers and scientists to publish internationally in scientific journals of the two schools. Regarding the scholarships of Mahamakut Isan Buddhist University, when there is official information, the school will widely disseminate it to a large number of students.
At the end of the meeting, both sides gave gifts and took souvenir photos.
