Attending the signing ceremony on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities were Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Rector), Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Hung (Director of the Center for Contemporary Religion Studies), research staff of the Center, the Faculty of Philosophy and representatives of the leaders of the departments in the school.
On the side of the Institute for Religious and Civic Culture Studies (Kyung Hee University, Korea), there are Prof. Francis Jae-Ryong (Director), Prof. Kwangsuk Yoo and Prof. Suh Dong Uhn as research experts of the Institute.
In his welcoming speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong highly appreciated the idea of connecting and cooperating between the two research centers on religious and cultural issues in each country as well as in the East Asia region in general. Vice President Dao Thanh Truong shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a multidisciplinary training unit, with a leading position in Vietnam in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. We not only have the Center for Contemporary Religious Studies, but other faculties/departments: History, Oriental Studies, International Studies, Political Science, Philosophy,... also train courses on politics, religion, regional studies, and cultural studies. At the same time, as a leading unit in scientific research, we also have many experts and in-depth researchers in culture, religion, etc. Based on these strengths, we believe that cooperation between the two sides in researching local and global issues related to religions, cultures, and urban areas in Vietnam, Korea, and East Asian countries will be very effective.
Vice President Dao Thanh Truong affirmed: expanding international cooperation in research on social sciences and humanities in general and culture and religion in particular is a key orientation in the development strategy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Professor Francis Jae-Ryong expressed his joy when visiting the University and receiving a warm and friendly welcome from the teachers in the Board of Directors and the teachers of the Institute for Contemporary Religion Studies. In the recent past, through the connection of some experts of the University, between the Institute for Religious and Civic Culture Studies (under Kyung Hee University, Korea) and the Center for Contemporary Religion Studies of the University, there have been a number of very effective activities. However, in order to promote the strengths of both sides as well as to further strengthen the cooperative relationship in the coming time, the official signing of the cooperation document is a very meaningful event. The issue of research on global religion as well as countries in the region, urban culture is of great interest to us and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has leading experts in this field, who have published many valuable studies.
The Director of the Institute for Religious and Civic Culture Studies of Kyung Hee University shared about the Institute's key research directions as well as cooperation opportunities between the two sides in the future.
Based on the opinions exchanged and agreed upon at the meeting, the two sides signed a cooperation document with the following key contents: Exchange of lecturers and research scholars; Exchange of documents in education and research, publications and academic information; Cooperation in implementing international research projects.
Professor Francis Jae-Ryong and Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Hung signed the cooperation document on behalf of the leaders of both sides.
