Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. A. SAJ U. MENDIS (Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam), Mr. Mahesh Premathilake (Minister Counselor of Sri Lanka Embassy).
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Rector), representatives of the Department of Cooperation and Development, Training, Scientific Research Management, Faculty of International Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies and Department of Southeast Asian Studies.

In his welcoming speech, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong shared: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a multidisciplinary, multi-field training unit with more than 17 faculties, training all levels from bachelor to doctorate, full-time, and work-study. In the current trend of global integration, the University hopes to cooperate and share resources with many universities and educational institutions from Sri Lanka in the fields of training, scientific research, etc. He also expressed his desire to organize summer courses to welcome international students from Sri Lanka and other countries around the world to learn about Vietnamese history and culture.

Representative of the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Prof. A. SAJ U. MENDIS expressed his admiration for the Vietnamese people in many aspects such as long-standing traditional history, diverse and rich culture, especially the remarkable economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, which he called "“Miracle of the Mekong River Region”. With the Government's open foreign policy, opportunities for expanding international cooperation, especially in the field of education, are endless. The Embassy is ready to connect for close cooperation between universities in Sri Lanka and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - a leading prestigious training unit in Vietnam in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities. As a visiting professor of Harvard University, Professor A. SAJ U. MENDIS also expressed his desire to have the opportunity to come and lecture and share knowledge about international relations with students of the University.
At the end of the meeting, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong expressed his thanks to Professor A. SAJ U. MENDIS and the Embassy of Sri Lanka; and expressed his hope that the two sides would soon sign a bilateral cooperation agreement, in order to create more opportunities and scholarships for students from Vietnam and Sri Lanka, as well as coordinate the organization of scientific research activities at the regional and international level.
