Attending the conference on behalf of the Faculty of Management Science, VNU-USSH were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Dung - Head of Faculty; Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Deputy Head of Faculty; and many staff and lecturers from the Intellectual Property and Public Policy departments.
Representing the Intellectual Property Office was Ms. Trinh Thu Hai, M.Sc., Deputy Director of the Center for Research, Training and Consulting Support.
The conference was also attended by representatives from universities and research institutes: Dr. Truong Hong Hai - Vice Rector, Director of the Institute of Economic Law, Hanoi University of Finance and Banking; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Deputy Director of the Institute of Economic Law, Deputy Head of the Department of Specialized Law, Hanoi University of Finance and Banking; Mr. Do Tien Dat, Ms. Pham Thi Diem Thi - Hanoi Law University; Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Giang - Academy of Policy and Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment; Lawyer Nguyen Huong Giang - Representative of the Foreign Affairs Department - Vietnam Intellectual Property Association; Mr. Pham Van Kien - Representative of BigPro Company (an intellectual property company).
Notably, the conference attracted the participation of over 70 students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi Law University, the Academy of Policy and Development, and Hanoi University of Finance and Banking.
The Conference Organizing Committee received 25 student research papers on the topic of intellectual property in Vietnam: current situation, solutions and international experience; the majority of which were from students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (with 18 papers).
Within the framework of the Conference, the Organizing Committee selected several outstanding reports to be presented directly in the auditorium. The scientific reports focused on issues of copyright protection and enforcement, and contemporary issues concerning the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights worldwide and in Vietnam; proposing many specific solutions to bring the Intellectual Property Law into practical application. The presentations received lively and open discussions from scientists, managers, experts in the field of intellectual property, and a large number of students from various universities.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Organizing Committee selected six outstanding student scientific research projects to award prizes for student scientific research on World Intellectual Property Day, April 26, 2024:
1. First prize goes to the team of authors Nguyen Hoang Lan Anh - Institute of Economic Law, Hanoi University of Finance and Banking.
2. Second prize was awarded to two groups of authors:
- Nguyen Thi Phuong Oanh, Le Bao Ngoc - Institute of Journalism and Communication Training & Faculty of Management Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;
- Nguyen Thanh Van, Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung, Trinh Thu Trang - Department of Civil Law, Hanoi Law University.
3. Third prize was awarded to the following three groups of authors:
- Tran Thi Thanh Tam, Nguyen Thi Nhung, Nguyen Thi Thuy, Ha Thi Phuong Thao - Faculty of Economic Law, Academy of Policy and Development, Ministry of Planning and Investment;
- Hoang Thi Lan Anh, Ta Hoang Nam, Le Thi Vy - Faculty of Management Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;
- Dao Hue Anh, Pham Minh Anh, Le Bao Ngoc - Department of Civil Law, Hanoi Law University.
The Intellectual Property Scientific Conference concluded with great success and significance, demonstrating the students' interest in and in-depth research on the current state of intellectual property rights enforcement in Vietnam. It also raised many issues requiring further research on practical aspects of intellectual property. The event also marked effective and practical cooperation in training and scientific research between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and several universities, research institutes, and management agencies in the fields of management science, public policy, and intellectual property.
