The 2024 University-level Student Scientific Research Conference is not only a festival, attracting the attention and participation of hundreds of Hanoi Humanities students, but also welcomes the presence of 5 groups of authors from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.
From the philosophy of nurturing and nurturing talented young human resources to promote academic activities
With the mission of being a pioneer in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; researching, creating and disseminating knowledge about Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities focuses on improving the quality of training, paying attention to and increasing investment in scientific research activities and innovation of lecturers and students.
Sharing at the Conference, Vice Principal Dao Thanh Truong emphasized: “The school has implemented many policies to promote student scientific research, including the key investment policy for student scientific works with published products issued in 2023. Most recently, on April 5, 2024, Decision No. 1839/QD-XHNV on Regulations on organizing student scientific research activities. Accordingly, students with quality research works will not only be rewarded and have bonus points added to their training points, but will also receive investment from the school at a rate of 10 million/1 topic published domestically, 20 million/1 topic published internationally”.

These policies have been creating motivation and encouraging students' spirit of learning and research, and more importantly, motivating them to be confident, proactive and ready to continue the path of scientific research as a future career.
To outstanding results
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi has 1,043 students out of 7,915 students (accounting for nearly 14%) participating in student scientific research activities. In the 2023-2024 academic year, there were 605 projects participating in student scientific research, of which 194 projects were awarded at the Faculty/Department/Institute level. After many rounds of evaluation, the Professional Council selected 98 projects to participate in the University-level Student Scientific Research Conference (including: 5 projects of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM City). In addition, many students have had projects published in prestigious domestic journals related to the research topic to participate in the University-level Student Scientific Research Conference in the 2023-2024 academic year.











At the end of the Conference, the School Board awarded certificates of merit and prizes to 27 projects that won first prizes; 42 projects that won second prizes, and 26 projects that won third prizes. Many scientific and applied research projects were highly appreciated by the Council.
In addition, 4 units were awarded the Outstanding Collective Award for Student Scientific Research by the Organizing Committee based on the criteria of having a large number of participating students and many good quality works: First prize belongs to the Faculty of Psychology, Second prize belongs to the Faculty of Information - Library, Third prize belongs to 02 faculties: Tourism Studies and Oriental Studies.

The above figures demonstrate the growing interest and participation of the young generation in the social sciences and humanities community in topical development issues. Student scientific research is no longer a student movement but has truly become a useful scientific forum for students to cultivate their passion for research. From student scientific research conferences, students will have many opportunities to express new ideas and valuable research results to gradually develop into meaningful and practical scientific achievements, contributing not only to the development of research fields, to the depth and breadth of science; but also to finding practical solutions to solve problems of social development.
Within the framework of the Conference, the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities honored the 5 best authors/groups of authors to receive the "Green Torch" Award in 2024.

Speaking at the Conference, Dr. Le Hoang Dung (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM) congratulated the research results of the students of the two schools, and affirmed: “The policy of shifting from a philosophy of reward to investment and development that has been implemented at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-Hanoi is an extremely correct strategy, promoting great effectiveness in encouraging more and more students to participate in scientific research while improving the scientific quality of research projects, discovering and nurturing young talents. The rate of nearly 14% of students participating in scientific research is a dream number for many higher education institutions and I believe that with the thorough investment from the University, this number will continue to increase further, the quality of research and publications will be improved even more in the following school years. Promoting the spirit of ONE-USSH, hopefully in the coming years there will be more works of students of the two schools participating in the University-level Student Scientific Research Conference. rotated between two units".

The success of the 2023-2024 Student Scientific Research Conference is not only the number of awards honored, the research works will receive key investment and continue to participate in higher scientific awards, but more importantly, it will continue to ignite and inspire scientific research for the young generation in the field of social sciences and humanities.
