University of Social Sciences and Humanities strengthens cooperation in research and policy consulting on socio-economic development with localities

Attending the Workshop, on the side of Ninh Thuan province, there were comrade Pham Van Hau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee of the project; representatives of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, representatives of leaders and former leaders of the Departments and branches: Military, Public Security, Education and Training; Culture, Sports and Tourism, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environment, Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Information and Communications, Home Affairs; representatives of the People's Committees of districts and cities; and many local scientists.
On the side of VNU and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong, Vice Rector and Project Manager; and many scientists who are team leaders and authors participating in the volumes of the Geography. Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong affirmed: As one of the leading training and research centers of the country, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has many scientists directly participating in national science and technology tasks, especially the construction of the National Geographical Map of Vietnam (abbreviated as Quoc Chi) chaired by VNU. That experience, together with the determination of the team of leading scientists, will ensure successful implementation, on schedule and with high professional quality.
For the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, participating in the construction of local records not only aims to fulfill the function of serving the community and the social responsibility of the University to the country, but also contributes to strengthening the connection and cooperation in research and consulting on socio-economic development policies between the University and localities.
Today’s workshop, as well as during the preparation process for the project, we have always received the participation of many leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, departments, branches, managers, and scientists from many fields in the locality. That shows the close attention of Ninh Thuan Province’s leaders, the thorough participation of relevant parties – one of the prerequisites for the success of this meaningful task.

On behalf of the leaders of Ninh Thuan province, Mr. Pham Van Hau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, expressed his deep gratitude to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and scientists who have joined hands to carry out this scientific project. The implementation of compiling the Ninh Thuan Geography book according to the standards of the National Geography Department, not only helps to gather research results on all fields of the province, affirming historical and cultural values ​​throughout history. More importantly, on that basis, it highlights the development potential, proposes solutions to turn those values ​​into local resources in a strong and sustainable way. The carefully compiled Geographical Book, rich in scientific and practical values, will be a product of practical significance to celebrate the important political event of the Province that will take place in 2025. The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Ninh Thuan Province, and relevant departments and branches pledge to closely coordinate and create maximum conditions for scientists to conduct research, collect documents, conduct fieldwork, etc. quickly and effectively.
With 30 scientific reports, including 12 presentations presented directly and online in 02 sessions, the Workshop focused on discussing a number of key issues such as:
+ Structure of research on compilation of provincial local records in Vietnam;
+ Theoretical basis, methodology, research method, analytical framework and research purpose of compiling Ninh Thuan Gazetteer according to Vietnam National Gazetteer standards;
+ Scale, structure, content, through the section names and editing requirements of each section in Ninh Thuan Gazetteer;
+ Criteria for selecting and compiling Ninh Thuan Character History;
+ Standards of the Vietnam National Geographical Book, general regulations of the Local (provincial) books and specific regulations of the Ninh Thuan Geographical Book.  
In addition, the Workshop also listened to many in-depth discussions of scientists with rich experience in compiling National and Local Gazetteers. The analysis and evaluation thoroughly explained the content issues of each chapter and section, provided arguments, new and updated research results to help the group of authors complete the compilation in the coming time.At the end of the workshop, the delegates agreed and highly agreed on the following contents:
- The compilation of National and Local Gazetteers is extremely important, not only to collect and systematize the most basic and comprehensive knowledge in all fields; but also to provide necessary arguments to serve the sustainable development goals of each country and each locality.
- Compiling Ninh Thuan Gazetteer is considered by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee as an important and practical political task to welcome the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Congress to take place in 2025.
- Today's scientific conference identifies some very fundamental contents: scale, structure, research methods, standards, rules for selecting events, historical figures, etc. These are important preparation steps to ensure the project is successfully implemented, meets the set schedule and ensures the highest quality.
- Based on the in-depth analysis and comments of experts and researchers for the reports in today's Workshop, the Group Leader and authors of the volumes urgently complete the content of each chapter and section according to the set schedule and plan, ensuring the correct principles: selection, representativeness, rationality and updating, highlighting the characteristics and unique values ​​of the locality in the overall national context.
- Some specific contents require in-depth seminars: historical figures, culture, religion, etc.
At the end of the workshop, Standing Deputy Secretary of Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Pham Van Hau once again affirmed: "This is a product of high scientific value, becoming a document for organizations and individuals to use when they need to research, learn, invest and develop Ninh Thuan province".
