Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad 2024: affirming and spreading the scientific and practical values ​​of Philosophy

Philosophy has long been considered a torch that illuminates the path of human knowledge and morality. In the current context, when the world faces many challenges in ethics, life values, and personal lifestyle, philosophy becomes an important tool to help each person recognize his or her role in society.
Sharing about the purpose of the competition, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Duc (Permanent Vice President of the Philosophy Association), Head of the Organizing Committee emphasized: The Olympic competition is organized to raise awareness, in-depth understanding of Philosophy, practice skills in applying theory to practice; Create a useful and practical playground, contribute to creating positive motivation, encouragement, promoting the love and passion for studying and researching Philosophy of students and trainees; Enhance activities of exchange, sharing, and exchanging learning and research experiences; At the same time, spread the spirit and love of Philosophy in the community.
This year's Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad 2024, with its humanistic and directional messages, is not only an intellectual playground but also a bridge to help Vietnamese youth build a standard value system for themselves, towards a bright and responsible future. This will be a meaningful and challenging journey, where young people are guided and inspired by experienced and dedicated predecessors.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Doan Van Bau also thanked the universities that accompanied the Philosophy Association, creating conditions for students to participate in the competition with the highest quality, the experts in the Jury, the Professional Advisory Council; and Halotimes Group for actively communicating and spreading information about the Competition. On behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his honor to be trusted by the Philosophy Association to be the host of the 2024 Philosophy Olympiad. The theme of the 2024 competition is extremely attractive and has high practical value: "Philosophy contributes to building a system of standard values ​​for Vietnamese youth today", which will certainly be an opportunity for students from 5 units to demonstrate their knowledge and courage, contributing to spreading the love of philosophy. The competition is accompanied by leading experts in Philosophy in Vietnam, giving the young generation of Vietnam the opportunity to approach philosophy in a more intimate and profound way.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities currently has 28 training majors, of which Philosophy is a major with a long tradition and a very important position. We hope that, with the support of the Philosophy Association, scientists, the Philosophy major of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as well as of Vietnam in general will develop strongly, in the direction of increasingly closely connecting with the issues of practical social life. According to information from the Organizing Committee, the content of the Contest will revolve around knowledge about the History of Eastern Philosophy, History of Western Philosophy, History of Marxist-Leninist Philosophy, Marxist-Leninist Philosophy and the application of our Party and State in practical economic and social life, especially in moral education, arousing the desire to contribute, and building a system of standard values ​​for Vietnamese youth today.

The 2024 Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad attracts 5 teams from 5 units: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; University of Sciences, Hue University; Vietnam Youth Academy; Academy of Journalism and Communication and Hanoi National University of Education.
Before coming to the live competition on stage, the teams prepared a clip no longer than 2 minutes long, posted on the Philosophy Association's media page, starting from 00:00 on November 1, 2024 and ending the number of interactions and scoring at 24:00 on November 8, 2024. The clip with the most likes, shares, and comments gets 10 points, the 2 clips with the second most likes, shares, and comments get 7 points, the remaining clips get 5 points.

In the dramatization competition, the teams must go through 4 very attractive and thrilling competitions:Philosophical Greetings, Philosophical Understanding, Philosophical Talent, Philosophical Eloquence

From the greetings to the knowledge competitions on Philosophy, the teams brought the judges, the advisory board, and the audience in the hall surprise and admiration for their profound understanding, strong political will, and comprehensive talent. The rules, categories, and doctrines that have long been considered academic, dry, abstract, and difficult to apply in the field of Philosophy were conveyed by the teams through very diverse, modern, vibrant, and creative forms with the youthful colors of Vietnamese students and youth: singing, dancing, modern dancing, rapping, acting, presentations, etc.                     At the end of the contest, the Jury honored and awarded 01 First Prize to the team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; 02 Second Prizes: Vietnam Youth Academy and Hanoi Pedagogical University. University of Science (Hue University) and Academy of Journalism and Communication shared the Third Prize. The Organizing Committee also awarded a number of other prizes to recognize and honor the excellence of the teams in each competition: "Talent" prize went to the Vietnam Youth Academy; "Excellent Philosophical Greeting" prize: Hanoi Pedagogical University; "Excellent Philosophical Eloquence" prize: Academy of Journalism and Communication; "Impression" prize: University of Sciences, Hue University; "Most Exciting Cheerleading" prize: Hanoi Pedagogical University.
It can be said that the 2024 Vietnam Philosophy Olympiad is not only an academic competition but also a call for Vietnamese youth. As Prof. Dr. Ho Si Quy (Former Director of the Institute of Social Sciences Information - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Member of the Jury) said: What you have shown in today's competition shows that the treasure of theoretical and practical values ​​of philosophy is still extremely vast and needs to be further studied, researched and promoted in the context of digital transformation taking place strongly.
With the continuous development of society and the explosion of globalization, the competition emphasized that philosophy is the foundation that shapes the thinking, ethics and values ​​of each individual. Through their performances, the 5 teams brought a message about the standard value system of Vietnamese youth in the new era: Patriotism, Solidarity, Diligence, Responsibility, Kindness and Creativity. These are important values ​​for Vietnamese youth to promote their role and mission in the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
