After more than three years in the making, the bookThe Influence of the Soviet School on Anthropology in VietnamReleased to readers at the beginning of the Lunar New Year of the Rat, this book makes a significant contribution to clarifying the history of Ethnology and Archaeology in Vietnam during a vibrant and glorious period of the nation's history. In June 2017, after six months of preparation, the authors of the book, along with several colleagues, presented and discussed the influence and imprint of the Soviet school on Anthropology in Vietnam during the latter half of the 20th century. Following the symposium, the reports were carefully selected, edited, and supplemented with new articles to systematize them into this book.

The aim of this book is to clarify the influence and imprint of the Soviet School of Ethnology, and to some extent Soviet Archaeology, on Anthropology in Vietnam during the latter half of the 20th century.

2. Associate Professor Dr. EP Busygin was a Soviet ethnologist who was sent to teach and assist in ethnology training at the Department of History, Hanoi University in 1960.
The entire content of the book reveals the formation of the Soviet school in Ethnology and Archaeology in the Soviet Union, the dissemination of the Soviet school in Vietnam, and the influences and imprints of the Soviet school on Anthropology in Vietnam in key aspects such as research, teaching, organizational structure, etc., at both the macro level of the discipline, units, and individuals. This is expressed through the voices of those who were trained in the Soviet school and those who research and are interested in this issue.
