TTO - By "softening" the political theory subjects of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and Party history, making them more relevant to everyday life, the lessons taught by young teacher Tran Bach Hieu always attract students.

Dr. Tran Bach Hieu (35 years old, Deputy Head of the Political Science Department, Faculty of Political Science, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) is one of 75 teachers who received the first "Outstanding Young Teacher" award from the Central Youth Union. For the past 12 years, this young teacher has consistently surprised students with his engaging political lectures.

The teaching is only dry and uninteresting when the teacher is dry and uninteresting.

The young teacher revealed that each lesson is always "softened," transforming seemingly dry political and theoretical knowledge into something relatable to life, in line with the spirit of young people. He rarely gets bogged down in heavy, "classic" stories.

"Twelve years isn't enough time to decide everything, but I have thoughts and experience in teaching. Also, my students are of different age groups, such as those born in the 80s, 90s, or the 2000s. When conveying information to them, the amount of information needs to be updated regularly, and the methods need to change for each group," Dr. Hieu shared.

In each political lecture, the approach is not only tailored to age but also to the specific needs of the students. For example, you can't teach a lecture to humanities, natural sciences, technology, or engineering students. Professor Hieu always uses examples relevant to each field of study, from applying political theory to the future careers and professions of each student group.

The young teacher believes that if subjects containing political theory, Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and Party history are taught well, in an engaging and lively manner, it will greatly help students in their worldview, in understanding and solving problems, as well as in applying this knowledge to their future work, and in building their aspirations and ideals.

Recalling the 80s and early 90s generations, teacher Tran Bach Hieu believes the most difficult thing is that today's young generation only reads through the online world, is influenced by stories from real life, the Internet, or the ever-changing nature of information.

"Teachers must always be mindful of ensuring that knowledge doesn't become outdated and is always up-to-date in the face of the enormous amount of information. I think it would be very boring to repeat the same story over and over, so each class always has a 'manset' that suits the audience. I always incorporate current events, practical examples, and even trends popular with young people into the knowledge of political science subjects," said Dr. Tran Bach Hieu.

He further shared: "We shouldn't bring the old teaching methods from 10 years ago to the 2K generation, or the teaching methods from 10 years ago to today's generation." Therefore, adjustments must be made in each lesson, ensuring that information and knowledge of political theory are still conveyed to students in the most effective way.

Besides making lectures more engaging, the most essential thing is to create interaction between the teacher and students, fostering an open and relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. Teacher Hieu shared that his greatest joy is seeing students eagerly anticipating his lessons. Conversely, he also looks forward to his classes to meet and impart political knowledge to his students – knowledge that was previously considered dry, but now becomes more interesting, lively, and effective during class time.

We must understand young people and students.

Recalling the statement of General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong at the 11th National Congress of the Youth Union: "Avoid apathy towards the Party, stagnation towards the Youth Union, and detachment from politics," Dr. Tran Bach Hieu argued that this is a recurring issue in many places, most recently on social media, involving a segment of young people and students who are indifferent, lack clear ideals and life goals, and have not yet recognized their individual role within the collective or their responsibilities in their studies and work.

According to Dr. Hieu, it is important that all levels of the Youth Union and young Party members set a good example, engage in practical activities, be close to and understand young people and students, and have educational methods tailored to different target groups.
