Since May 2019, within the framework of the visit and work of Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi Nguyen Kim Son at Spanish universities, the Mayor of Palencia City - Mr. Alfonso Polanco - welcomed and proposed that Vietnam National University, Hanoi support the University of Valladolid to promote scientific and educational cooperation with Vietnam. In particular, the Mayor suggested that the two sides organize a photo exhibition about Vietnam in Palencia City in the spring of 2020 to enhance the understanding of Vietnam among the city's people, laying the foundation for the construction and development of a center for Vietnamese language and culture here.

In particular, the organization of a photo exhibition to introduce the country, people and culture of Vietnam has been implemented as planned. On February 7, 2020, a scientific discussion on the history of nearly 500 years of relations between the two nations and the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition about Vietnam attracted a large number of Spanish people and the overseas Vietnamese community to attend.
Many guests and people of Palencia attended the scientific seminar and the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition about the country, people and culture of Vietnam on February 7, 2020.
The exhibition is held at the Cultural and Scientific Center building of the University of Valladolid, located in the center of Palencia City. 100 outstanding photos focus on main themes such as natural landscapes, ethnic groups, historical and cultural heritage, daily life, educational activities, economic activities...

According to the plan, the photo collection about Vietnam will be exhibited in Palencia city until the end of March 2020, then transferred to Valladolid city so that more people can learn about Vietnam. Currently, representatives of some European universities in the joint cooperation group with VNU and Valladolid University have expressed their intention to bring this photo collection to display on their university campuses so that people in those cities can have a better understanding of the country, people and culture of Vietnam.
