The Book Club is a meeting place for young people who love and are passionate about reading. Joining the club gives you easy access to newly published books from Nha Nam Bookstore. You can discuss and share your opinions on the books recommended by the club. In addition, readers have the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas directly with editors and translators of the books. From this, club members can accumulate experience in reading, enrich their knowledge in all fields, and gain career guidance for the future.
Ms. Vu Thien Thuy Hien – Club President, expressed:The Book Club was established with the aim of creating an academic space for humanities students in general and Literature students in particular. From there, it aims to inspire enthusiasm for reading and nurture a passion for enjoying new, interesting, and high-quality books among students.”
Currently, the Book Club's executive board consists of three main members: Ms. Vu Thien Thuy Hien (Club President), Ms. La Thi No (Club Vice President), and Ms. Bui Thao (Secretary).
Ms. La Thi No (Vice President of the Club) shared:The USSH Book Club is a newly established club and doesn't yet have a wide reach. However, with our first book launches, we've seen the club's appeal to students. It's an environment that helps students cultivate a passion for reading, develop their reading skills, meet like-minded individuals, and network with editors and translators."

Some books were introduced at the Book Club.
Since its inception, the club has held impressive book launches and book-related exchange and discussion programs. The first launch took place in November 2014 with the book "At the cafe of lost youthby Patrick Modiano - the French writer who won the Nobel Prize in 2014. At the second launch event, the Book Club introduced to readers the "Vietnamese Masterpieces" republished by Nha Nam with the aim of: "re-examining and re-evaluating the true values of the works, as well as the contributions of the authors." Works that were once famous and deeply connected to generations of Vietnamese readers were recreated, such as:"Lucky Number"by Vu Trong Phung, “"Remembering the Twelve"by Vu Bang, reportageVillage affairsby Ngo Tat To, "A glorious pastby Nguyen Tuan,"First winds of the season"by Thạch Lam. The book "The readerBy Berhard Chlink - the renowned German author - was introduced at the Club's third launch. At the fourth launch, readers were able to enjoy the book ""Intersections and lampposts"by Tran Dan. To continue the emotional theme of the fourth event, the club held a reader interaction session about author Tran Dan, especially about his poetry. During the sixth book launch, readers had the opportunity to read and discuss detective stories such as:The mysterious riverby Dennis Lehane,"White Night Journey"by Higasshino Keigo and “In the eternal forests ofFred Vargas. Notably, in its seventh edition, the club has offered readers a genuine glimpse into the culture, society, and people of Türkiye in the 1970s through the novel "Museum of Innocenceby Orhan Pamuk – the Nobel Prize-winning author.
In particular, in the next program held on April 17, 2015, readers had the opportunity to chat with writer Ta Duy Anh – the author of famous works such as “Overcoming the curse”, “Old man suffering”, “The countryside is disappearing."...The writer listened to the opinions of the readers while enthusiastically sharing about his literary career. At the Book Club, students will have many opportunities to meet and interact with veteran writers or new writers with outstanding styles."
The club has provided many opportunities for students to explore literary works. Bui Thi Thao, a student from the 57th cohort of Literature Education, shared: “The club has been very helpful for students. I get to stay updated on new works and discuss them. This is truly a place that inspires me to read more and helps me find a more effective and efficient way to read.”
The newly established Book Club currently lacks a dedicated space for interacting with readers and storing books. In the near future, with the support of Nha Nam Publishing House and the Faculty of Literature, the Club hopes to acquire a location and necessary equipment for managing its books and organizing book-related events.
