The book presentation contest is an event within the 2015 Humanities Book Fair – USSH BOOK FESTIVAL 2015 (UBF 2015) program. This is the first time the program has been held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This year, the program is organized by the Union of...Hi, the Student Union – Branch Association of the Faculty of Information and Library Science, together with the Book and Communication Club, hosted the event and was officially sponsored by Nha Nam Culture and Communication Company.
The competition was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Quy (Former Head of the Information and Library Science Department), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Duy Hiep (Literature Department), MSc. Pham Tien Toan (Deputy Head of the Information and Library Science Department), Comrade Tran Bach Hieu (Secretary of the University Youth Union), and Comrade Tran Duc Hoa (Vice President of the University Student Association).

The 2015 Humanities Book Fair was organized to create a platform for students who love reading and to spread that love of reading to the student community of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Speaking at the competition, Comrade Tran Bach Hieu affirmed the importance of reading and hoped that the Humanities Book Fair would become a traditional reading culture event of the University: “Through this event, we hope to spread the love of reading to all students in the university. Given the unique nature of a research university in social sciences, books and reading culture are indispensable. They not only assist students in their studies but also support their future careers. Furthermore, the success of the “Humanities Book Fair” will create a good foundation for organizing this activity annually, making UBF a traditional reading culture event of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.”
After nearly a month of launching and two rounds of competition, "Book Review Writing Contest" and "Film Adaptation Week," the Organizing Committee has selected the 6 best teams to advance to the final round: the Lavender team – Faculty of Literature; the Book Thieves team – Faculty of Vietnamese Studies & Vietnamese Language; the Shades of Philosophy team – Faculty of Philosophy; the Youth team – Faculty of Linguistics; the International Youth team – Faculty of International Studies; and the Management Science team.
In the final round, each team chose a book and gave a presentation. The Shades of Philosophy team (Faculty of Philosophy) addressed the issue of homosexuality through the book "Mom, I'm Gay." They clearly expressed their viewpoint: "Everywhere in the world, regardless of country, ethnicity, or religion, homosexuality exists whether society acknowledges it or not. Through this book, my teammates and I were able to learn about events concerning homosexuals around the world and the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community."
The International Youth Team (Faculty of International Studies) created a very emotional presentation script about the book "Green Lotus Bud" by author Son Tung, which tells the story of the family and life of President Ho Chi Minh.
After six rounds of competition involving six teams, the Lavender team (Faculty of Literature) won first place and the inspirational award; second place and the audience choice award went to the Youth team (Faculty of Linguistics); third place and the impressive writer award went to the Shades of Philosophy team; and the box office hit award went to the Management Science team.

Winning first prize, Pham Thi Nhung (K57 Literature Education) said: “I feel very happy and joyful to have won first prize in the competition. We felt stuck at times in coming up with ideas, but with our love for books, we were able to see the competition through to the end. This program is truly essential for all students. Students today are considered lazy readers, so I hope that through this program, we will increase the love of books and reading culture among students, especially students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. I also hope that students will actively participate in clubs such as the Book and Media Club.”

This was the first time the "Humanities Book Fair – UBF 2015" program was organized, but it resonated with students, connecting their passion for reading and collecting books, and most importantly, changing the reading culture among students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. As the Head of the Organizing Committee, Comrade Tran Duc Hoa, stated: “The event has had some impact on the students. Although the audience wasn't as large as expected, we will consider other organizational formats to expand the program and encourage more student participation. Looking further ahead, we hope to organize a program on a larger scale involving multiple universities. Besides encouraging reading, the program will also help promote the image of the units, faculties, and clubs within the university.”
