Today, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities celebrates Vietnamese Teachers' Day, the 25th anniversary of its founding, and the 75th anniversary of its tradition. On behalf of the Standing Party Committee and the Board of Directors of VNU, I would like to send to the University, to all teachers, my congratulations, joy, and most respectful greetings. I would like to congratulate the teachers who have received the emulation titles and noble awards from the State and the Government today. VNU is very proud of you.

The past 25 years, a quarter of a century, have been a journey of continuous striving, a process of continuous development. From just a few faculties of the University, after 25 years of construction, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - now has become a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary university in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities with nearly 20 faculties and departments, currently organizing 103 training programs (with 31 undergraduate programs, 72 postgraduate programs). The student body is over 10,000 people, of which more than 20% are postgraduate students, with a total of 530 staff, including many famous scientists, many leading experts. More importantly, the University has become a brand, a source of pride. The University has also initially established its own identity and created important values, humanistic values, academic spirit, of national and international stature. As a member university of VNU, the scale, stature and influence of the University are among the largest and strongest universities in the national university system. The human resources and brand that the University has are something that many other universities can only dream of. Achieving that achievement is first of all thanks to the efforts, intelligence and dedication of all the staff and students of the University, and is also the result of the attention and direction of the Party, the State and the Government, the Ministries, the central and local agencies and VNU. In today's celebration, I would like to congratulate the great achievements that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved in the recent past, and thank and acknowledge the contributions of many generations of staff, employees and students of the University.

On each anniversary, people look back on the past, but more importantly, they look at the present and look to the future. At this time, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has never had such great advantages and prospects, but also faced such great challenges.

Social sciences and humanities always go hand in hand with political institutions, with the path of social development and human development. Social sciences and humanities can pave the way, can contribute to the development of a country in terms of speed and scale, but more importantly, it aims at the QUALITY OF DEVELOPMENT. The human resources that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities trains, the research products that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities writes - they serve the quality of development, the ENJOYMENT OF DEVELOPMENT and the SUPPORT FOR CONTINUED AND INCREASED DEVELOPMENT of the next stage.

Regarding the task of developing Vietnamese culture and people in the coming time, the Draft Political Report submitted to the 13th National Party Congress clearly states: “Comprehensively develop human beings and build an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity so that culture truly becomes an endogenous strength, a driving force for national development and national defense. Increase investment in cultural development. Build, develop, and create the most favorable social environment and conditions to arouse patriotic traditions, national pride, faith, and aspirations for the development of a prosperous and happy country; talent, and intelligence.

The above-mentioned viewpoints on human issues, culture and humanitarian issues are perceptions and orientations that create changes and great opportunities for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, for training human resources for this field. The problem is whether we can seize the opportunity or not, whether we have enough strength to transform the opportunity into our products and contributions or not.

Social sciences and humanities are the sciences of human development, social development, and cultural development. VALUE SYSTEM is the core and nucleus of every culture. Social sciences and humanities must contribute to creating a new value system for Vietnamese people, both promoting the tradition and quintessence of national culture and adapting to the new industrial revolution era, in the period of international integration and rapid socio-economic development. The recent period in our country has been a period of decades of innovation, decades of market economic development, in essence it is a period of transition. The faster the economic development, the greater and deeper the transformation of the economy and society, the more acute the problems posed by humans.

In recent years, VNU has adjusted its science and technology strategy, developing key technology fields such as aerospace, artificial intelligence, agricultural technology, medicine and pharmacy, etc., but has paid special attention to developing science and technology programs in the fields of social sciences and humanities and interdisciplinary, including the following tasks: Compiling the National Geographic of Vietnam (Quoc Chi), the Vietnam Studies Documentation Center, Translating and promoting the quintessence of Eastern classics, etc. These programs are contributing to making the development of science and technology at VNU more comprehensive and balanced. In these general movements, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is actively participating and undertaking many important tasks. This is also a great opportunity for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, from its deep roots, from its 75-year tradition and 25-year history, has been creating a value, which is humanistic value. In 1945, President Ho Chi Minh recognized the importance of social sciences and humanities and established the University of Letters under the Vietnam University. Since then, the University has gradually built this precious tradition. That is the tradition of promoting national sentiment, loving people, and striving for truth, goodness, and beauty. This school has also gradually built humanistic values, of sharing, solidarity, altruism, and goodness. With social sciences and humanities and the hearts of staff and students, the University has built that fine tradition. In other words, that tradition is firmly built by the academics of this field and by emotions, by both mind and heart. More than ever, school leaders and leaders at all levels need to be deeply aware of this, need to see that continuing and nurturing that tradition is the responsibility and self-respect of each individual.

To be able to seize the opportunity, so that social sciences and humanities can continue to be promoted and shine, the Party Committee of the School, the Board of Directors, the management staff, and the scientific staff of the School need to do, need to do immediately, to converge in spirit, be one in action, be stable in organization, unified in management, and have order and discipline from top to bottom.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities needs to continue this trend of adjustment and development, propose more large, new and long-term science and technology programs, take in-depth and unique basic research, practical survey research, etc. to develop research and training activities. It is necessary to carry out a real digital transformation in the field of research and training in social sciences and humanities, widely deploy "digital humanities",... do a good job of policy consulting and perform well the assigned science and technology tasks.

Promote talent training and high-quality training according to the new model, towards personalized education methods, innovate teaching and training activities to adapt to the context of many fluctuations and difficulties and challenges around the world due to the current pandemic and non-traditional security issues. It is necessary to innovate policies on staff use, human resource planning, prioritize human resource planning to develop traditional majors, strengths, brands and pride of the University, not just take teaching hours as the only rigid criteria to decide the development of the organization and human resources. It is necessary to prepare all conditions to implement the university autonomy model according to the general policy of VNU in 2021. It is necessary to review and rearrange training majors, especially the list of majors and majors for postgraduate training.

In 2021, units in VNU are actively preparing to invest in building facilities in Hoa Lac. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities also needs to actively prepare. Road No. 8 passing through the school area and other infrastructure in the school area will be built in mid-2021. VNU will work with the school to find early capital solutions to build the school, build items belonging to the group of works of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities such as museums, libraries, experience areas, Vietnam studies research areas, Vietnam studies documentation areas, etc. Of course, all of the school's own efforts are still decisive for the development in Hoa Lac in the future.
