Dear teachers and colleagues!

Teaching people has always been difficult, but today it is more difficult than before, and teaching people at VNU is even more difficult. The profession itself is difficult, because the object it interacts with, guides, and creates is people. The difficulty of teaching today lies in the fact that the job requirements are increasingly high, the goals are big, the pressure is increasing, the students are different from the past, and the impact from factors outside the school on students is increasing.

VNU identifies the discovery and nurturing of talents, training high-quality human resources as its core direction, key point, and mission. That requires managers, teaching staff, and support staff to have high professional qualifications, a high sense of responsibility, and enthusiasm suitable for the environment of nurturing talents. VNU is the leading university in the country, striving to be among the best schools in the world, which of course requires teachers of national and international stature, with leading scientific qualifications, exemplary methods, with both talent and virtue, with enough capacity to lead and create talents, and with enough excellence to be able to train more outstanding people for the present and the future.

Teachers of VNU are teachers of a talent training environment, teachers of an international-class school, an academic environment that always requires creativity and aims for continuous development. In the common difficulties of the profession, teachers of VNU have even more stringent challenges and requirements. Accordingly, VNU does not accept average or mediocre people to do the job just to get it done, there is no room for conservatism, apathy, irresponsibility and lack of professionalism. Teaching is a profession, a career and the career of being a teacher at VNU is a great career for each person to devote themselves to and strive for.

Pursuing big goals, meeting high requirements, we will grow taller and bigger, more exemplary. The requirements are very high, the challenges are many, but that is also the opportunity for teachers to grow quickly and strongly. A university oriented towards training talents and high-quality human resources does not have to do anything too unusual. The decisive thing is that the teachers there must be good, even very good at their expertise and have the heart of a teacher. Truly talented people often have a very strong ability to self-study and improve. What they need is an environment, respect, nurturing, creating conditions, encouragement, guidance and orientation. In a talent training environment, if each person, each most ordinary step does well and professionally, we can support the development of talented seeds.

The teaching profession is glorious, being a teacher at VNU pursuing great goals, high national and social responsibilities, that is even more glorious. The teaching profession has many joys of its own. Teachers at VNU aim to train talented people, research to create new knowledge, pursue inventions, discoveries, discover things that no one has seen, point out things that no one has thought of, ... That certainly brings great joy. There is the usual joy of the teaching profession, the joy of scientific creativity, and the joy of fulfilling the national mission and social responsibility. All combine to create great joy. Teachers at VNU, as the intellectual force of the country, need to "worry first, enjoy later" (ancient saying). The joy obtained is certainly greater because it resonates with the joy of society and of generations of students, it is deeper because of the depth of intelligence and science.

Being a teacher at VNU is difficult, but it is glorious and full of joy. I hope each of us will do our job as teachers well every day with the highest requirements and responsibilities. I hope each day we find joy in creativity and leadership.

Wishing all teachers of VNU a very happy November 20th, from the simplest joys to the great and profound joys that are uniquely ours./.
