1. The 27th Party Congress, term 2015-2020
The congress took place on April 9 and 10, 2015 with the participation of 157 delegates. The congress discussed important contents in the development orientation of the University, term 2015-2020, in which it continued to affirm the goal of becoming a research university, leading the country in social sciences and humanities, striving to be in the top 100 universities in Asia by 2020.
The Congress also elected the Party Executive Committee for the 27th term, with 14 members. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim was elected as Secretary of the School Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term.
2. Celebrating 70 years of tradition and 20 years of founding the School
In 2015, the School organized many activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of tradition and the 20th anniversary of the School's establishment such as: Welcome art performance contest, press meeting, exhibition "My School"... and organized many domestic and international seminars. The 70th anniversary of tradition and the 20th anniversary of the School's establishment was solemnly held on October 6, 2015 at the National Convention Center. At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam awarded the First Class Labor Medal, for the second time, in recognition of the School's achievements and contributions to the development of the country.
2015 was also the year when many faculties celebrated their founding anniversaries, such as: Faculty of Journalism and Communication celebrated its 25th anniversary and received the Third Class Labor Medal; Faculty of International Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies and Faculty of Tourism Studies all celebrated their 20th anniversary.
3. Admission based on competency assessment method
2015 is the first year that the school enrolls students in its training programs using the competency assessment method. This is a new method and way of organizing exams: candidates only need to take a single exam, in one exam session, knowledge is synthesized on the computer, candidates do different exam questions and know the results immediately. This exam method has received the attention and response of many candidates.
4. Continue to successfully organize many large conferences
Many successful domestic and international conferences were a highlight in the scientific achievements of the School last year. Not only discussing theoretical scientific issues, the conferences also aimed at applying research results to solve practical development problems of the country, at the same time seeking international cooperation opportunities, creating a network of connections and sharing in the domestic and international scientific community.

5. Raise awareness of quality control work
Recognizing the importance of accreditation in improving training quality, last year, the School welcomed and organized many accreditation activities, specifically:
From 14 to 16 October 2015, the external assessment team of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) conducted an assessment of the Bachelor of Oriental Studies program.
Then, from December 1 to 4, 2015, the School worked with the external assessment team of the Center for Educational Quality Assessment, Ho Chi Minh City National University to implement the quality assessment program at the educational institution level according to the Ministry of Education and Training's quality assessment standards.
In addition, last year, the School also organized peer quality assessments of high-quality undergraduate training programs in the fields of Management Science, Philosophy and Literature.
6. Promulgate regulations on decentralization of management and operating procedures at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
In order to implement administrative reform, improve the quality and efficiency of activities, on September 14, 2015, the School's Principal issued Decision No. 2173/QD-XHNV, Regulations on decentralization of management and operational procedures at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
The set of regulations is built on the basis of applying and specifying legal documents of the State and regulations of VNU into the fields of operation of the University.
The set of regulations has 20 chapters, decentralizing management and operating procedures according to work content, not according to functional units.
7. Publishing Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities
On May 11, 2015, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued license number 155/GP- Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, allowing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU to publish the journal Social Sciences and Humanities. The journal publishes 6 issues a year, including one in English, each issue has 100 pages.
The Journal is a forum for scientists to exchange and publish their research products in the fields of social sciences and humanities. The Journal published its first issue on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of tradition and the 20th anniversary of the founding of the School.
On January 13, 2016, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued license No. 16/GP- Ministry of Information and Communications, amending and supplementing the regulations in the press license, according to which the School Magazine will be allowed to publish 2 English issues/year, the magazine's capacity doubled to 200 pages/issue.
8. Appointment of new Principal
On December 23, 2015, the President of VNU signed Decision No. 5168/QD-VNU on appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to hold the position of Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities from January 1, 2016.
The ceremony to announce the Decision to appoint the School's Principal was solemnly held on January 18, 2016 at the Hall on the 8th floor of Building E. At the ceremony, Principal Pham Quang Minh expressed his gratitude for the contributions of previous generations of leaders, and shared the vision of the School in the coming term, emphasizing the importance of building a professional, open, friendly, and fair university governance environment, thereby liberating all resources, promoting creativity, and attracting talent.
9. Establishment of the Department of Anthropology
On September 29, 2015, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU announced the decision to establish the Faculty of Anthropology, increasing the number of Faculties under the University to 16.
The Faculty of Anthropology was established on the basis of the Department of Anthropology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. The establishment of the Faculty has made an important contribution to training a team of anthropologists with professional qualifications and professional ethics, meeting the demand for human resources to serve the cause of innovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration.
10. Humanities students with the Young Parliament project
Last year, the school's youth participated in the Young National Assembly project. The project provided necessary knowledge and skills about the National Assembly, organized simulated sessions like those of the National Assembly, and discussed a number of policy issues of interest.
Surpassing hundreds of candidates from many other universities, Student Dang Trung Anh, K58CLC, Faculty of Management Science, School was honored to be selected as one of the 8 most outstanding students, to visit and learn experience at the British Parliament in the UK for 10 days. This is truly a valuable opportunity for students to challenge, practice, learn, and exchange to start a career tomorrow.
The Young Parliament Project is organized by the Office of the National Assembly in coordination with the British Embassy and the British Council in Vietnam.
