The ceremony was attended by representatives from the French Far East Institute of Archaeology (EFEO) in Hanoi, the French Institute for Development Studies in Hanoi, the French Embassy, the French-speaking University Agency in Hanoi, the Center for Research on Management, Organization, Labor and Power (CERTOP) of the French National Centre for Research, along with many French and Vietnamese scientists who are colleagues and students of Professor Gilbert De Terssac.

Professor Gilbert De Terssacas a sociologist,He previously held the position of Director of the Center for Research on Management, Organization, Labor and Power (CERTOP), a highly prestigious research unit under the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). In this capacity, he advocated for and promoted research on the transformation of Vietnamese society and served as a bridge between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès, the Francophone University Agency, the University of Téluq, etc., in identifying, designing, and implementing collaborative research programs aimed at community development and publishing international publications.

Professor Gilbert De Terssac
With a special affection for Vietnam, Professor Gilbert De Terssac contributed to the development and implementation of a policy to train doctoral students in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam through scholarships funded by the French government. Dozens of Vietnamese doctoral students have benefited from various scholarships from the French government and successfully defended their dissertations at CERTOP, particularly in the fields of Sociology and Psychology.
Professor Gilbert De Terssac was one of the key figures and initiators in creating the first applied-oriented Master's program in Sociology in Vietnam (formerly the Master's program).Organizational management(MADO), now calledPublic and business policy management(MAPE). Initially (2007-2011), this joint training program received financial support from both France and Vietnam within the framework of the French University Center in Hanoi. To date, more than 140 students have graduated from this program. This is the only program within the framework of the French University Center in Hanoi that has survived and continued to develop even without receiving financial support from either side.

Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc, Head of the Training Department of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, to Professor Gilbert De Terssac for his outstanding contributions to scientific activities and the development of friendly cooperative relationships with Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
In the field of Sociology, Professor Gilbert De Terssac has directly supervised or co-supervised many Vietnamese PhD students in Sociology at the postgraduate level and in research, making a significant contribution to helping them become independent researchers capable of leading large-scale scientific research projects.
Professor Gilbert De Terssac has served as a bridge, facilitating international cooperation between Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, and the University of Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès and other French-speaking universities. CERTOP, headed by Professor Gilbert De Terssac, has supported many Vietnamese students in their application and studies in France. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, and the University of Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès have elevated their relationship to a "comprehensive partnership," thanks in large part to the pivotal role of Professor Gilbert De Terssac, a key figure in the field of Sociology.

As a crucial link and bridge in scientific collaborations, Professor Gilbert De Terssac has seized every opportunity to support the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in actively and effectively participating in international forums such as the Association of French-speaking Universities of Social Sciences and Humanities (AFELSH), the Association of Francophone Social Scientists, etc. From this, many international cooperation programs have been signed and effectively implemented, such as:Integration of Vietnamese university graduates into the labor market (2006), Business transformation support analysis(2007);Creating socio-economic activities to serve local sustainable development – The case of the Northwest region and Son La (2010)…; inter-regional research cooperation between Midi-Pyrrhénées (France) and Son La province. The most concrete result was the construction of a village cultural and tourism center in Hua Tat village (Moc Chau, Son La), inaugurated on June 21, 2014. Through the community development research program from 2007-2014, Professor Gilbert De Terssac secured several field research scholarships for Vietnamese students with a total value of approximately 500 million VND. He is the editor of the book “Vietnam in transitionPublished in France.

Professor Gilbert De Terssac emphasized that the most important factor forming the foundation for the success of existing collaborative programs is friendship and trust. He said:Friendship and trust may not help us put anything in writing, but they will help us build programs together, conduct fieldwork together, and exchange our cultural capital and experiences."
Professor Gilbert De Terssac received heartfelt affection, respect, and warm congratulations from colleagues and students at a ceremony honoring and recognizing his contributions to scientific activities in Vietnam and to the development of friendly cooperative relations between Vietnamese and French universities.
