Introducing the book "Vietnam Tourism in the Renovation Period"

This meticulously compiled book, with contributions from numerous scientists and experts in the fields of economics, culture, and tourism, examines Vietnamese tourism from multiple perspectives, integrating natural, cultural, and economic resources in a diverse and in-depth manner. This is considered the foundation and driving force of tourism development. This is because exploiting and developing tourism requires a strategy that preserves sustainability and leverages the strengths of cultural identity in the context of integration, innovation, and international cooperation.

The Doi Moi (Renovation) process has created strong development opportunities for various economic sectors, including Vietnamese tourism. While in the early years of Vietnam's tourism industry (1960), tourism activities primarily served foreign experts and high-ranking officials of the Party and State, after the complete liberation of the South until before 1986, tourism activities began to shift towards a business-oriented nature, albeit on a small scale and within the domestic market. Since 1986, especially following several important events in the process of international integration, Vietnamese tourism has developed strongly in terms of scope, scale, and nature of activities.

However, this development process has not yet yielded results commensurate with its inherent potential and has not met the objectives set out in the country's development strategy. Coupled with the negative fluctuations in global security, politics, and economics; and the strong competition from regional and global "tourism brands"... The Vietnamese economy in general and the Vietnamese tourism industry in particular are inevitably affected. Systematic research into the industry's resources, its characteristics within the development context, achievements, current shortcomings and inadequacies, and future development directions and solutions for Vietnamese tourism is essential for managers and policymakers. Vietnamese tourism always faces the need for research, adjustment, flexibility, and continuous innovation to develop more effectively, in line with the spirit of the Doi Moi (Renovation) policy.

This book is also a useful reference for students, postgraduate students, researchers, and those working in related fields.
