Vietnam National University, Hanoi awards honorary doctorate to French professor.

Attending the ceremony were: Ms. Sophie Goedefroit - Director of the Francophone University Agency in Asia-Pacific; Mr. Mehdi Salim - Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation - French Embassy in Hanoi; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc - Head of the Training Department, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, along with many lecturers and representatives from several specialized departments of the University.

Professor Gilbert De Terssac receives an Honorary Doctorate from Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), said: "The honorary doctorate awarded to Professor Gilbert de Terssac reflects our respect and high appreciation for his outstanding contributions in many aspects to the building and development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular and Vietnam National University, Hanoi in general."

Professor Gilbert de Terssac is known for his research supporting the transformation of Vietnamese society and for his role as a liaison between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès, the Francophone University Agency, the University of Téluq, Canada, etc., in identifying, designing, and implementing collaborative research programs aimed at community development and publishing international publications. Notable among these is the inauguration of the Cultural and Tourism Center in Moc Chau (Son La) in June 2014 and the book...Vietnam in transitionPrinted in France.

He consistently facilitated international cooperation between Vietnam National University, Hanoi in general, and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, with major international partners; many international cooperation programs have been signed and effectively implemented, including numerous international scientific conferences.

Currently, Professor Gilbert de Terssac supervises many Vietnamese doctoral students in sociology at the postgraduate level, in their research, and has made a significant contribution to helping them become independent researchers capable of leading large-scale scientific research projects.

He has also led numerous research programs and projects, is a sociologist, and was the first to design an applied-oriented Master's program in Sociology for Vietnam.

Expressing his appreciation and emotion, Professor Gilbert de Terssac thanked the Vietnam National University, Hanoi for recognizing his contributions and affirmed that he will continue to strive and dedicate himself to bringing about even more achievements in research and education cooperation, promoting the relationship between the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and French universities to further develop.

Prior to Professor Gilbert de Terssac, Hanoi National University had also awarded "Honorary Doctorates" to 51 individuals from various countries and territories.
