On May 3rd, 2024, at the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace, the team from the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, participated in the Final Round of the "On-site Tour Guide Competition at the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site". In the final round, the team of students from the Faculty of Tourism Studies won the Encouragement Award in both the individual and team categories.
The competition is a platform for tourism students from various universities and colleges in Hanoi.
Speaking at the competition, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong emphasized: “Perhaps later on, you may not become professional tour guides, but this will greatly benefit your future, helping you to further develop your experience and historical knowledge. This knowledge will be absorbed gradually; to achieve this, tour guides must constantly study, cultivate themselves, and possess a noble soul and pure morals. Because this historical site is where we spread the moral teachings of Uncle Ho. Entering this space means learning from Uncle Ho's example – simple, pure, yet also witnessing his great historical stature.”
In the sacred and warm atmosphere of the Historical Site, the competing teams participated in two rounds of competition, including a team competition and an individual presentation competition. Through each presentation, the tour guides made a significant contribution to conveying profound emotions and messages to the people, compatriots, soldiers, and tourists visiting "Uncle Ho's House."
Throughout the competition, the Tourism Faculty team won the Encouragement Award in both the team and individual categories. The individual performance was presented by student Nguyen Thanh Duong from the K65 Tourism and Travel Service Management program. In his performance, Thanh Duong showcased the thoughts, style, and ethics of President Ho Chi Minh in an engaging, creative, and unique way.
Sharing her feelings upon receiving the Encouragement Award at the competition, student Thanh Duong said that each tour guide is a person who leads a large audience to cultural spaces, inspiring tourists. Therefore, they not only need to have a thorough understanding of history and culture, but also need creativity and flexibility to attract and engage a large number of tourists to historical sites, especially the Presidential Palace Historical Site.
