Pham Duc Luong - first year student of International Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
A Hue boy with a passion for his country's history chose USSH to entrust his future toI came to history very fortunately when my grandmother participated in the resistance movement against the US to save the country. So when I was born, my grandmother told me many stories, events, and memories that she had during the resistance. I still remember clearly when my grandmother told stories, I listened with great interest and sometimes even imagined that scenario. I started to be interested in History from that time. Then when I grew up, studied through different levels of education, I met teachers who were extremely dedicated to imparting knowledge and awakening my love for History. I am truly grateful for that. When I was able to absorb historical knowledge from such wonderful people, my love for History grew day by day and never showed any signs of stopping. There were days when I ate with History, slept with History, searched for books, documents, and videos about History to read, follow, and research. When I learn about an event or a character in history, I feel more excited and interested in knowing more about those characters and events.
There are always opinions that History is an extremely dry and "difficult" subject for many students because of the huge amount of knowledge as well as the characteristics of the subject that are difficult to relate to modern reality. But I don't think so, because the past creates the present and the future, whenever we try to understand why something happens, we have to look for the factors that have formed before. Only through studying history can we grasp how the world changes, only through history can we begin to understand the factors that cause change, and only through history can we understand the factors of an organization or a society that still exist despite change. Thanks to studying and improving historical knowledge every day, my knowledge of History is quite good, confident enough to study in class as well as participate in competitions with History content. Also through the process of studying History, I have developed my thinking, changed my perspective on the world around me, and gained a multi-dimensional view of a certain issue in life.

Through the process of learning, I found that the university environment at the School of Humanities is extremely dynamic and the quality of education is extremely good, the teaching staff has many people with PhD degrees or higher. International Studies is also the major that I wanted to study and feel very suitable for my professional capacity and future career. I feel that I can develop well when studying this major, and here will also help me improve many of the shortcomings that I am having. The third reason why I chose USSH is also fate when I came to Hanoi to participate in some competitions, I found that the people here are very hospitable, friendly, plus the cultural features here are very unique and attract me and make me want to experience a lot in the capital of a thousand years of civilization.

Overcome yourself to become a better versionI was born into a family with poor economic conditions, but fortunately my parents are very interested in educating their children, always creating the best for me throughout my studies up to now, that is a huge motivation to make me always tell myself to try harder so as not to let my parents down. In studying, I think not only me but anyone will encounter difficulties, hardships, and sometimes want to give up. But when I encounter times like that, I remember the saying "Before giving up, remember the reason why you started" or "Pressure creates diamonds" and then I return to normal and actively try harder. Through each time like that, I become stronger, dare to face more difficulties and challenges, create for myself a tough shell so that I never give up.

Duc Luong achieved the title of 3 Good Students at the Provincial level.
Awareness of responsibility to the community and the desire to bring good things to people from the simplest things
As a freshman with many ambitions and enthusiasm of “youth”, I always aim for good and useful things in life. The current young generation is the future of the country, holding in their hands the life and development of the country. Therefore, I think that in order to achieve that, our young generation needs to live with opinions, have ambitions, dare to think and dare to do, not be discouraged by the difficulties ahead, set goals for ourselves and strive to achieve those goals. Always cultivate and contribute our own capacity and intelligence to the cause of developing the country.
In addition, we must learn to help people around us without considering personal interests. That is something to be respected. For myself, I am always ready to participate in social activities to contribute to the development of the country such as participating in the programs "Green Summer", "Tet Tree Planting", "Spring Volunteer". When entering the university environment, I am also looking for opportunities to work in charity organizations, social work organizations, my wish is to bring good things to everyone from the simplest things.
