SVVN - Pham Duc Luong, born in 2005, was born and raised in Thua Thien Hue province. Throughout his high school years, Luong achieved many commendable accomplishments. Luong said that during his many trips from Hue to Hanoi to participate in competitions, he developed a fondness for the people and culture of the capital city. Furthermore, Luong recognized his strengths in the social sciences and wanted to develop his soft skills and foreign language abilities, so he chose to study International Studies at USSH.

Pham Duc Luong is a first-year student in the International Studies department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
A young man from Hue, passionate about Vietnamese history, chose USSH to entrust his future.
I was incredibly fortunate to be introduced to history because my grandmother participated in the resistance movement against the American invasion. From the moment I was born, she recounted countless stories, events, and memories from her time there. I vividly remember listening intently to her stories, sometimes even imagining the scenarios herself. That's when my interest in history began. Later, as I grew up and progressed through various levels of education, I encountered incredibly dedicated teachers who imparted knowledge and ignited my love for history. I am truly grateful for that. Receiving historical knowledge from such wonderful people has fueled my love for history, which has never stopped growing. There are days when I eat, sleep, and breathe history, searching for books, documents, and videos about history to read, follow, and study. When I learn about a historical event or figure, I become even more excited and interested in knowing as much as possible about those people and events.
There are always opinions that History is an extremely dry and "difficult" subject for many students due to its vast amount of knowledge and the fact that the subject matter is difficult to relate to modern reality. But I don't think so, because the past creates the present and the future. Whenever we try to understand why something happens, we must look for the factors that formed it before. Only through studying history can we grasp how the world changes, only through history can we begin to understand the factors that cause change, and only through history can we understand the elements of an organization or society that still exist despite change. Thanks to studying and improving my history knowledge daily, my knowledge of History is quite solid, giving me enough confidence when studying in class as well as participating in competitions with history content. Through studying History, I have also developed my thinking, changed my perspective on the world around me, and gained a multifaceted view of various issues in life.

Through my research, I found the university environment at the Faculty of Humanities to be incredibly dynamic and the quality of education to be exceptionally good. Many of the faculty members hold PhDs or higher. International Studies is also a major I've always wanted to pursue and feels very suitable for my professional abilities and future career prospects. I believe I can thrive in this field, and it will also help me improve many of my current weaknesses. The third reason I chose USSH was also a fortunate coincidence; I had the opportunity to visit Hanoi to participate in several competitions, and I found the people here very hospitable and friendly. The unique culture captivated me, making me want to experience as much as possible in this thousand-year-old capital city.

Overcome your own limitations to become a better version of yourself.
I was born into a family with limited financial resources, but fortunately, my parents were very caring about my education and always provided the best for me throughout my studies. This has been a huge motivation for me, constantly reminding myself to try harder so as not to disappoint them. In my studies, I believe that not only I, but everyone will face difficulties and hardships, and sometimes feel like giving up. But when faced with such moments, I remember the sayings, "Before giving up, remember why you started," or "Pressure creates diamonds," and then I return to my normal state and strive even harder. Each time, I become stronger, more daring to face challenges, and build a resilient shell around myself so that I never give up.

Awareness of responsibility towards the community and a desire to bring good things to people, starting with the simplest things.
As a freshman full of ambition and youthful enthusiasm, I always strive for what is good and beneficial in life. The current generation of young people is the future of the country, holding in their hands the destiny and development of the nation. Therefore, I believe that to achieve this, we young people need to live with conviction, ambition, dare to think and act, not be discouraged by difficulties, set goals for ourselves and strive to achieve them. We must always cultivate and contribute our abilities and intellect to the development of our country.
Furthermore, we must learn to help those around us without regard for personal gain. That is something to be cherished. Personally, I am always ready to participate in social activities to contribute to the development of the country, such as participating in the "Green Summer" program, "Tet Tree Planting," and "Spring Volunteer" programs. Upon entering university, I am also actively seeking opportunities to work in charitable organizations and social work organizations. My wish is to bring positive things to people, starting with the simplest things.
