Harmony Welcomes New Students of Class K68: A Symphony Full of Humanistic Spirit

On the evening of September 24th, the campus of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was filled with the vibrant and youthful atmosphere of a spectacular sound and light party: Harmony Welcomes New Students of K68.
The Gala Night was honored to have the participation and inspiration of Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Vice Rector), Secretary of the Youth Union, President of the Student Association of Hanoi National University, along with faculty and leaders from departments/centers under the Rectorate and training units. In particular, the event attracted the participation of thousands of students from all institutes/faculties/departments in the university, including over 2000 new students of the K68 cohort.
The gala night is part of a series of opening ceremonies to welcome the new academic year organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of the University, with the desire to bring the warmest and most heartfelt "welcome" to all new students, helping them quickly get acquainted with the modern and dynamic environment of the Faculty of Humanities, and ready to showcase their talents and abilities.
The program also serves as an opportunity to connect students from different years, enhance the spirit of solidarity among members of each unit, enrich their cultural and spiritual lives, and contribute to building a continuously developing and thriving Humanities community.
Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared: “This is truly a very meaningful event for students in general and new students in particular. With the talent of the humanities students, and with their meticulous preparation, I am sure that tonight you will give your all with your passion and deliver amazing performances. I also hope that you will continue to develop that enthusiasm and spirit in your studies and in the youth activities of the university. The teachers will always be there to support you and create the most favorable conditions for you to successfully take flight.”

Principal Hoang Anh Tuan inspired the students with a very moving song by composer Pham Thanh Tai.
The spectacular performances by students from 10 training units left the judges, teachers, and thousands of attendees at the Gala night in awe, amazed by the talent, creativity, and enthusiasm of the humanities students.
The musical feast opened with powerful vocals from the students of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, performing the song "Em ơi" (Oh, my dear).

The atmosphere of the concert heated up with incredibly youthful and vibrant performances, combining singing, dancing, and modern choreography. In particular, many of the meticulously staged scenes conveyed profound and humanistic messages, yet were delivered in a fresh, unique way, perfectly suited to Generation Z.

The History Department recounts the profound historical story of "Nam Quoc - Binh Ngo" in a very modern and youthful style, combining singing, rapping, and modern dance.

The Department of Oriental Studies brings a youthful and vibrant energy with its rendition of "The Sound of Youth."

Also in the "Voice of Youth" category, the actors from the Faculty of Tourism Studies impressed with the beauty of Vietnam's diverse culture, costumes, and landscapes.

With the combination of the professional vocals of the two singers and the energetic dance moves, the mashup of "Just a Fleeting Moment" and "Let's Go Dancing" by the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training made a strong impression on the judges and the audience.

The performance of "My Vietnam" by the Psychology Department concluded a magnificent, brilliant, poignant, and deeply humanistic Gala night.
Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong shared: "For many years, I have accompanied the students, followed many activities, and witnessed their growth. But in tonight's Gala, you truly overwhelmed me, because you are so outstanding and talented. The performances not only showcased your abilities in performing arts, staging, and scriptwriting, but they were also deeply humanistic, carrying profound messages about love and the responsibility of youth towards the country and the community. I hope you will always maintain this passion and youthful enthusiasm throughout your time studying here and after graduation, and that this flame will strongly spread to the new students of K68."

Ten performances from ten different units showcased their unique styles and strengths. This was the result of meticulous preparation, rigorous training over a long period, and the participation of a large number of students from the faculty, fostering connection, sharing, and camaraderie among students from different years.
MC Xuan Quynh (Vietnam Television VTV) expressed her admiration for the outstanding performances of the students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities: "I have accompanied you in several events before, but each time the students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi always surprise me. At tonight's Gala, when the music started playing, I felt like I was watching professional singers, dancers, and actors living their passions to the fullest. It wasn't just about the form of expression; each performance by each team told a unique story, demonstrating their understanding, love, and pride in their university and field of study; while also spreading many meaningful messages. This showcases the intelligence, talent, and unique identity of the students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities."

In addition, the Jury also awarded five other prizes: Trend Award: Institute of Journalism and Communication Training; Impression Award: Faculty of International Studies; Style Award: Faculty of Management Science; Outreach Award: Faculty of Psychology; Encouragement Award: Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language.

The gala night was not just a competition, but above all, a celebration where all students had the opportunity to showcase their talents and passion for art. The event created unforgettable memories for all students, not only because of the quality of the performances but also the enthusiastic cheering of the supporters; especially for the freshmen of K68, who witnessed a traditional, academic yet modern, youthful, and integrated Humanities. The event also concluded a complete and joyful Opening Ceremony, simultaneously inspiring the faculty and students to embark on a new academic year in 2023-2024 with many new joys and successes.
