This workshop is an important milestone, the final project in a series of meaningful activities of the 5-year Korean Studies Development Project with the goal of connecting and promoting Korean Studies in the North, focusing on Hanoi, Thai Nguyen and Ha Long. After 3 years of hard work, we have achieved proud results. Activities such as "Korean Cultural Experience" for high school students and scientific seminars for students in Thai Nguyen and Ha Long have aroused passion and love for Korea in the young generation. In particular, the project has also empowered young talents through valuable scholarships for undergraduates and graduate students, encouraging them to continue pursuing their academic path.

The pioneering role of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in training and research in Korean studies
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU was established in 1945, formerly the Faculty of Letters, Indochina University. Over the past 80 years, the University has affirmed its position as one of the leading research and training centers in Vietnam with the mission of training generations of intellectuals with profound professional capacity, critical thinking and a spirit of dedication to society.
In that historical flow, pioneering the training of new majors has always been the top priority of the University. Therefore, just a few years after establishing diplomatic relations, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities became the first educational institution in Vietnam to open a Korean Studies major. This major has quickly become one of the majors that attracts the most attention from students. In the 2025-2026 school year, the school welcomed the K70 class of students with high entrance scores, many candidates had to achieve absolute scores to have a chance to be admitted. This not only demonstrates the attraction of Korea to young Vietnamese people, but also affirms the outstanding training quality of the Korean Studies major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
On that development journey, the school has always received the companionship and support of the Korean government, organizations, businesses, universities and Korean Studies Institutes, scientists, and speakers from Korea and Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the sustainable cooperative relationship between the two countries.
