During the July work review meeting, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – the Rector of the University – highly appreciated the work performance in June 2010, noting that most units within the university had completed their main tasks according to plan.
During the July work review meeting, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – the Rector of the University – highly appreciated the work performance in June 2010, noting that most units within the university had completed their main tasks according to plan.The Rector of the University particularly emphasized several key tasks for July and August, including the development of the Party Committee's work program for the 26th term, the organization of the Patriotic Emulation Conference of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the implementation of the 2010 Professor and Associate Professor title review process, and the implementation of the 2010 Summer Volunteer Campaign. Regarding training, student affairs, quality assurance, and inspection: the university will organize and grade the 2010 regular undergraduate entrance exams; grade the second semester exams of the 2009-2010 academic year for regular undergraduate classes; conduct a preliminary review of the four-year credit-based training program in the university's units; organize a delegation of staff to survey credit-based training in Ho Chi Minh City; consider awarding prizes to students of regular undergraduate programs; continue the self-assessment of the Tourism and History training programs; and prepare to welcome students of the QX-2010-X cohort. Regarding scientific research and international cooperation: Over the next two months, research projects assigned by the Ministry of Science and Technology will be developed; the 'List of Scientific Works 2006-2010' will be compiled; preparations will be made for the Conference on Research and Training in Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam: Achievements and Experiences; the International Conference on Research and Training in Anthropology in Vietnam during the Transition and International Integration Process; and the International Conference on Zhu Xi and East Asian Confucianism; the second round of postgraduate admissions for 2010; the implementation of a summer training program for students from several universities in the United States; and the implementation of the '3+1' and '2+2' joint programs with several universities in China. Several important administrative, management, and financial tasks have also been directed by the Rector for implementation over the next two months. In addition, the Rector has requested the heads of departments to immediately implement several tasks, such as urging their staff and students to do a good job in the 2010 university entrance examination; urging staff to complete the grading of the second semester exams of the 2009-2010 academic year and send the scores to the school by August 2010; and guiding teaching staff to accurately and promptly declare overtime hours. Furthermore, departments need to promptly inspect their facilities and report to the Administration Department for repairs and upgrades. Along with that, departments should especially remind staff not to use mobile phones during classes and meetings, not to smoke in public places, and not to consume alcohol before and during working hours. The Rector also requested the departments to immediately implement several important tasks. Specifically, the Research Management Department prepared a document guiding the process of rewarding staff members whose works are published in prestigious international scientific journals; the Personnel Department coordinated with the Administration Department to organize several training courses in office computer skills for administrative staff; and the Student Affairs Department prepared a plan to welcome students of the QX-2010-X cohort and organized the opening ceremony for the 2010-2011 academic year.
