Faculty and staff conference for the 2010-2011 academic year

On the morning of October 2nd, over 200 delegates participated in the Conference of Officials and Staff for the 2010-2011 academic year. The conference aimed to evaluate the achievements of the 2009-2010 academic year and to approve the direction and tasks for the 2010-2011 academic year.

On the morning of October 2nd, over 200 delegates participated in the Conference of Officials and Staff for the 2010-2011 academic year. The conference aimed to evaluate the achievements of the 2009-2010 academic year and to approve the direction and tasks for the 2010-2011 academic year.Four reports and four presentations/speeches on all aspects of the University's activities were presented and discussed at the conference. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hai Ke (Head of the History Department) presented on the issue of building research groups – one of the models that the University is particularly interested in. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hai Ke argued that the formation of research groups is an essential need in teaching and research at the History Department in particular and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general. Dr. Tran Ngoc Lieu (Head of the Training Department) presented on one of the University's key tasks: deepening credit-based training in the 2010-2011 academic year. Accordingly, immediate actions needed to contribute to the in-depth development of credit-based training include: ensuring the training organization software in the departments and offices; Publicly disclosing the standard procedures for managing training, conducting training and exchanging teaching expertise among teachers; revising the training handbook for students… Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Hoa (Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies) proposed and suggested opening a doctoral training program for Tourism Studies. The Faculty of Tourism Studies is one of the few faculties that has not yet offered doctoral programs, while the current training needs are relatively large and necessary. In his presentation, Mr. Pham Van Hung (Faculty of Literature) successively raised three noteworthy issues. Firstly, the need to supplement the staff specializing in postgraduate training to meet the increasingly expanding scale of postgraduate training. Secondly, regarding some inappropriate cases in organizational discipline. Thirdly, regarding personnel management, Mr. Pham Van Hung suggested that the University should issue staff ID cards to limit unfavorable situations in the process of staff contacting each other for work.

In addition, many other opinions were compiled in the report at the Conference of Staff and Faculty of the units. The majority focused on suggestions regarding issues such as the need for more specific explanations of the causes of some shortcomings, and the inclusion of representative and specific data. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University - directly received and discussed these opinions: Regarding the issue of the quality of foreign language lecturers for postgraduate classes, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh stated that he would soon propose working with the University of Foreign Languages ​​(VNU). Regarding scientific research, the Rector reaffirmed that the University always encourages and facilitates scientific research for staff and students, especially interdisciplinary research. In practice, the University has implemented timely reward policies for groups and individuals who have made scientific contributions. Regarding staff income, the school will strive to the best of its ability and current conditions to increase income, contributing to improving the living standards of its staff...

Attending and speaking at the Conference, Professor Mai Trong Nhuan (Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi) acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the past academic year and supported the University's proposals. He also emphasized several key tasks that the University needs to focus on completing soon: implementing strategic tasks, building internationally standardized programs, developing a team of internationally qualified staff; enhancing students' creativity and foreign language skills; and promoting research with internationally recognized results based on the establishment of research groups. The Director also suggested that the University should open more programs and specializations commensurate with its existing potential. Furthermore, Professor Mai Trong Nhuan suggested that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities conduct research to clarify international standards in training and research in social sciences and humanities.

202 delegates attending the Conference unanimously voted to approve the draft Resolution of the Conference of Officials and Staff for the 2010-2011 academic year. Also on this occasion, the University organized an awards ceremony to honor 11 teachers recognized with the title of Associate Professor, 8 collectives receiving commendations from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and 13 collectives and 60 individuals receiving commendations from the Rector of the University.
