This morning, October 20, 2010, the Department of Anthropology - University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to launch and receive the appointment decisions for the department's leadership personnel.
This morning, October 20, 2010, the Department of Anthropology - University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to launch and receive the appointment decisions for the department's leadership personnel.The Department of Anthropology, under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, was formed on the foundation of the Department of Ethnology within the Faculty of History. With a shift in approach from ethnology to anthropology, the subject matter and scope of research in Anthropology have been expanded and elevated to a new level. The Department of Anthropology currently has 8 staff members, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Ba Nam as Head and Dr. Nguyen Van Suu as Deputy Head. The Department of Anthropology is one of the 10 majors at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities that admits students from all three subject groups (A, C, and D).
In the 2010–2011 academic year, the first cohort of undergraduate students in Anthropology enrolled. Anthropology is a science that studies and explores the diversity, specificity, and universality of cultures and languages, as well as the principles of social organization of human communities, both historically and in the present. Anthropology is divided into five fields: physical anthropology, archaeology, socio-cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and applied anthropology. These fields form a comprehensive research framework for studying human beings in the past and present, everywhere in the world.
