On April 15, 2011, the 4th quality assurance conference in VNU was held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.Attending the conference were Dr. Pham Xuan Thanh (Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Assurance - Ministry of Education and Training), Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan (Director of VNU) and leaders of VNU's member units. This conference focused on evaluating the results achieved in the key tasks of quality assurance proposed at the 3rd conference and at the same time discussed the key tasks for the 5th conference. Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan emphasized: The conference needs to focus on discussing solutions to improve quality. In particular, quality culture needs to be approached from the perspective of the practitioner and approached according to the process, implementing quality assurance activities and having inspection and evaluation, then generalizing and continuing to replicate that model. The Preliminary Report on Quality Assurance of VNU has highlighted the outstanding achievements in the Quality Assurance work of VNU such as: improving the quality assurance capacity of VNU staff, developing a quality culture environment; updating and revising the quality assurance standards of training units and training programs of VNU; implementing the collection of feedback from learners, assessing international training joint programs of units under VNU...

At the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - presented a paper on "Initial steps to build a quality culture at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities". The Vice Rector emphasized: building a quality culture needs to be associated with ensuring the quality of teaching and learning of teachers and students; quality culture is associated with ensuring the quality of faculties/majors/training programs; quality culture is associated with improving and enhancing the quality of training. Evaluation, improvement, improvement and then re-evaluation of improvement form a circle of quality. That is also the path of building a quality culture in universities. A representative of the University of Economics also presented a report on "Experience in participating in the accreditation of training programs according to the standards of the Southeast Asian University Network (AUN - QA)". The report clearly stated that right from the preparation stage including assessing the current status of the training program, preparing the force for the assessment work to the self-assessment stage, followed by external assessment and receiving the assessment results, all need to be well prepared in terms of personnel, propaganda, training, and coordination between units. This 4th conference also discussed and agreed that the 5th meeting will be held at the University of Technology and will focus on discussing the main tasks such as: revising and promulgating the Regulations on Quality Assessment in VNU; developing and promulgating documents on quality culture at all levels, implementing 100% of subjects that university students participate in assessment in the 2nd semester; implementing 70% of lecturers to assess lectures according to the lecturers' self-assessment form, organizing and implementing step-by-step assessment of heads of training units...
