On November 1st, 2010, a school-wide briefing session, chaired by Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – the Rector of the University – was held. The Rector's conclusion regarding the work performance in October was that the main tasks were basically completed according to the plan. However, the Rector noted that some tasks related to training, quality assurance, inspection, and administrative management were still not completed as planned. The Rector particularly emphasized several key tasks for the School in November: This month, the Party, organization, and propaganda activities of the mass organizations will have many important and significant events, such as celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day, the 65th anniversary of the School's tradition; organizing a singing competition for staff and students to celebrate the 65th anniversary; and organizing a camp and youth activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the school's founding in a joyful, safe, and economical manner. Along with these activities, the School will also implement the review of salary increases according to seniority and ahead of schedule. Regarding training, student affairs, quality assurance, and inspection, the University will announce the Semester I exam schedule and create the Semester II timetable for the regular program; evaluate 10 years of high-quality training. Simultaneously, it will quickly organize a conference on the use of training management software; evaluate the organization of foreign language teaching; and evaluate 2 years of training according to the strategic tasks of the Linguistics major. In addition, other notable activities include: organizing enrollment for non-regular training courses both within and outside the university; and organizing dialogues between university leaders and students. Regarding scientific research and international cooperation, many important activities are being urgently implemented and completed soon, including: publishing the book "List of Scientific Works of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2006 – 2010)" and the book "University of Social Sciences and Humanities: Stages of Development". Specifically, the university will organize a seminar on research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam: Achievements and experiences, and a discussion on the theoretical basis of the left from a Marxist perspective; and a forum for presidents of partner universities within the framework of the 65th anniversary of the university's tradition. Other activities include: a regular meeting of the University's Scientific and Training Council; inspection of the activities of centers, programs, and projects; and the defense of postgraduate theses for the QH-2007-X cohort. Regarding administrative, management, and financial matters: an inspection of the use of equipment, electricity, and water in lecture halls and units will be conducted, and the 2010 financial conference will be held. The President proposed several immediate tasks: Firstly, to strengthen the promotion and introduction of the University on the occasion of its 65th anniversary. In particular, heads of units should proactively post information about their units on the university's website. Secondly, not only is the school celebrating its 65th anniversary, but many departments/divisions also plan to celebrate their founding anniversaries. Therefore, units must report to the school for coordinated organization. Thirdly, heads of units should remind their staff to promptly complete year-end settlement procedures. Fourthly, units should coordinate with functional departments, the Youth Union, and the Student Association to compile a list of students whose families were affected by floods in order to plan for support.
