Possessing sufficient academic and professional qualifications and capabilities to meet the learning and research requirements of the training program at each level:
For master's degree level: Graduation from a university (or equivalent or higher) in a relevant field (for research-oriented master's programs, a GPA of "good" or higher is required, or relevant scientific publications related to the field of study/research are necessary) and meeting other admission requirements of the training institution for the program being applied for;
For doctoral programs: Applicants must have a Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with a GPA of Excellent or higher in a relevant field/specialization, or a degree equivalent to level 7 according to the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework in certain specialized fields relevant to the doctoral program, and meet the requirements regarding research experience, scientific publications, research proposal, letters of recommendation, and other admission requirements of the training institution for the program they are applying for.
Possess sufficient Vietnamese language proficiency to meet the academic and research requirements of the training program, specifically meeting one of the following requirements:
- Possess a Vietnamese language certificate equivalent to Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, issued by institutions authorized by the Ministry of Education and Training (See Appendix 3), and the certificate must be valid for 2 years from the date of issuance.
- Hold a bachelor's/master's/doctoral degree in Vietnamese language/specialization.
- Possess a high school/vocational school/college/university/master's/doctoral degree where the language of instruction was Vietnamese.
In addition, candidates must meet the requirements for a second foreign language as stipulated by the training program (if applicable).
Having sufficient health to study and conduct research, as certified by competent health authorities.
Having sufficient financial resources to cover tuition, research, and living expenses in Vietnam for the duration of the study program.
The applicant has a clean personal record, is not currently serving a criminal sentence, and has not violated the laws of Vietnam or the host country.
Complete any supplementary courses before submitting your application (if required).
III. Admission methods and timeline
1. Application submission methods and required documents:
1.1. Application submission method:International students should submit their applications electronically via email to study@ussh.edu.vn and in hard copy to: Training Department – International Training Division, Room 207, Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, 336 Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, Hanoi, Vietnam.
1.2. Document requirements:- Application form
- Certified copies and translations into English or Vietnamese of your bachelor's degree and transcript (for master's degree holders). For degrees awarded outside Vietnam, consular legalization is required.
- Certified copies and translations into English or Vietnamese of master's degree certificates and transcripts (for doctoral degrees). For degrees awarded outside Vietnam, consular legalization is required.
- A notarized copy of the certificate of completion for the supplementary knowledge course (if the candidate is required to take it).
- For doctoral applications: applicants must submit a research proposal written in Vietnamese or English, research within the program, and at least one scientific publication (if applicable as stipulated in the current regulations on doctoral training of Vietnam National University, Hanoi). Scientific publications can be articles in specialized scientific journals or scientific reports published in the proceedings of national or international peer-reviewed scientific conferences or seminars, with relevant ISBNs related to the field or research topic, and recognized by the professorial/associate professorial council of the discipline/interdisciplinary field; and a letter of recommendation from at least one scientist with the title of professor, associate professor, or a doctoral degree (PhD).
- A notarized copy of a Vietnamese language certificate demonstrating a minimum proficiency level of 4 according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, or proof of a university degree or equivalent qualification in a program taught in Vietnamese. Refer to Appendix 3 – List of accredited Vietnamese language certificate-issuing institutions for master's and doctoral admissions at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
- Study plan
- A health certificate issued by an authorized medical facility in the sending country or by a provincial, city, or central-level medical facility in Vietnam certifying that the applicant is healthy enough to study, and issued no more than 6 months prior to the application date.
- Copies of documents proving sufficient financial resources to cover study, research, and living expenses in Vietnam.
- A copy of your passport valid for the entire duration of your studies in Vietnam or for at least one year from your expected arrival date in Vietnam.
- 4x6 photo
(Three sets of application documents are required for master's degrees and five sets for doctoral degrees.)

1. Enrollment period:Phase 1 is scheduled for June 30, 2025, and Phase 2 for November 30, 2025.
2. Training duration:- Standard duration of master's degree training: 2 years
- Standard duration of doctoral training: 3 years
Successful applicants will be officially recognized as graduate students and doctoral candidates after completing the enrollment and tuition payment procedures.
V. INFORMATION ABOUT TUITION FEES(Based on Decision No. 2440/QD-XHNV dated July 7, 2023, regarding the regulation of tuition fees for foreign students in various training programs and levels)
1.1 Master's degree tuition fee: 67,500,000 VND/year/student
1.2. Doctoral tuition fee: 90,000,000 VND/year/doctoral candidate
The training budget may be adjusted annually according to regulations.
