The book "Archival Science and the Digital Transformation in Vietnam: Legal and Practical Issues for the 21st Century" is a collection of research articles by authors from the Department of Archival Science and Office Management, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The book provides an overview of modern archival science, not only in Vietnam but also in the international context''; is a valuable document, reflecting the profound change in archival practice from traditional to digital.
In the past, archives mainly focused on handwritten documents, but now include many different types such as images, recordings, videos, and especially digital data. Archives are not only stored in traditional physical form but also digitized to serve remote users. Archival science has become a modern information science, archivists today not only preserve documents, but also actively collect, manage and provide information to many subjects, from the government, researchers to the public.
