On May 7, 2010, the Department of Library and Information Science awarded certificates of supplementary university knowledge in Library and Information Science to 7 students and professional certificates in Library and Information Science to 4 other students. The trainees completed a rigorous course comprising 18 subjects, equivalent to 40 credits or 600 hours of instruction over 3 months. The course achieved excellent results, with 3 out of 11 trainees receiving outstanding grades. Speaking at the certificate awarding ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Quy (Head of the Faculty) stated: Responding to practical needs, in October 2009, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) allowed the Faculty to expand its enrollment for the Master's program in Library Science; in November 2009, the University approved the Faculty's enrollment for a supplementary course to prepare for the postgraduate entrance exam and professional training in the Information and Library Science field. The successful enrollment and completion of the course has given many trainees, currently working in Information and Library agencies nationwide, the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in Library Science at the University or to receive additional professional training to support their work. This is reportedly the second refresher course organized by the Faculty of Information and Library Science. Previously, at the end of 2009, the first course was also successfully held with the participation of over 20 students. It is expected that the course will continue to be held annually to serve the needs of a large number of learners.
