This morning, July 19, 2011, the student volunteer team from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, operating in Thanh Xuan commune (Soc Son district, Hanoi), launched their first labor session in Trung village – one of the ten villages in the commune.Thirty members of the volunteer team arrived early. With a large number of male students, the work went quite smoothly. The entire team swept the main roads of the village, cleared bushes, cleaned drains, and collected garbage. The villagers were very enthusiastic about the volunteer team's activities. Ms. Nguyen Thi Sot, a villager, happily said: "I'm so happy that the young volunteers came here to help the village. I hope they will come back next year and live in this village again. I promise to help them as much as I can!" The work session ended at 11:30 AM, leaving the village roads clean and bright, and the warm feelings of the villagers seemed to dispel the fatigue and heat. Mr. Nguyen Van Sang – Secretary of the Youth Union of the commune – presented the entire team with many fruits, both to encourage and motivate them, and as a thank you for the tireless efforts of all 30 members during their first work session this morning. He said warmly: "Although the amount of labor you put in wasn't very large, the important thing is that you have earned the trust and affection of the people. That is the most valuable achievement."
