The harsh weather and shingles are major challenges facing the Phu Cuong team. As of this morning, July 24th, 4 out of 32 volunteers have contracted shingles.Overwhelmed with worry, the parents of Thu Huyen and Cam Trang traveled all the way from Phu Tho and Hung Yen to visit their children and the volunteer team. Everyone in the team was as happy as if they were meeting their own parents. Most importantly, the parents provided Phu Cuong with plenty of food and drinks. The volunteer meals were improved with vegetables, meat, ham, and beans after the children's days of hardship, and laughter was a must. Chatting with everyone, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bien – Thu Huyen's father – shared: "Although we have worked hard, it's nothing compared to the volunteers. Remember to take care, work hard, and complete your tasks. We'll come again next year and visit Phu Tho again!" At 3 pm, the team regained their spirits and resumed their work. The young teachers continued their classes, teaching the children English, with each syllable carefully pronounced. Each class had 20 students but only one teacher and two teaching assistants, because being a teacher is not as simple as they think. On their first day holding chalk in front of so many innocent eyes, the teachers couldn't help but feel nervous, and then the naive questions made them laugh: "-What is Germany in English? -It's Australia." After a while of practicing reading, the children still pronounced China as "chi-na." The remaining volunteers are rushing to help the villages of Thuy Huong, Huong Giang, and Tan Phu in Phu Cuong commune design and build camp gates in preparation for the upcoming War Invalids and Martyrs Commemoration Day.
